Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorshiphi Kid Vision kids it's me Miss Penny and today we're at a water park we are going to go on the most amazing adventure to learn about water safety come with me let's go [Music] water parks are lots of fun and there are safety rules to keep everyone safe and happy so I'm just going to go over a few rules before cuz we want to make sure that you guys are safe while you're having fun right so first and foremost make sure when you're around any bodies of water that you are supervised by an adult okay we always want to ask your parents uncle aunt whoever you're with for permission before we enter the water make sure that before you even step into the water you're reading the sign boards okay we want to always follow the rules those rules are to keep you safe there's also little little tiles around the pool that say How deep the pool is so if you're a little iffy on swimming maybe don't go in if you you're shorter than the the tile okay make sure you're with a partner right you don't want to swim alone someone that can see and witness everything that's going on and know your limits don't go past what you can do one at a time down the slide please when you're in the water we want to make sure that we're listening to the lifeguards right the lifeguards are there for our safety lifeguards have certain tools to talk to you guys let you know if you maybe you're not following a rule or you're heading into a danger zone okay what do we think that could be this right a whistle a bell a bell okay what else something that is like this yeah like a megaphone right so they can talk to you do we want to hear what the whistle sounds like yeah okay it's going to be a little loud so watch out ready that was that was [Music] loud when you guys are in the general area and not just in the general area but in the water as well we don't want to run right anytime we're running around areas that have water fls very slippery we guys don't want you to slip or fall or trip or get hurt uh just like rough housing with each other right we don't want to push and shove each other and you know potentially cause injury we want to play nice safe and there's no rush you can get to your place just by walking and still have a good time okay if someone's in trouble and they really feel like they need help who should they look to besides their parents a lifeguard right there should always be a lifeguard on duty when you're in the water a lifeguard you're going to identify them usually they're going to have life guard on the back of their shirt do we see that lifeguard right and the shirt's usually going to be white with red on it you're going to see lifeguards with whistles right cuz remember what are they used for Listen to listen okay they're also going to have a pack Pack's going to look like this okay to help you guys in case anything were to happen and ultimately they're going to have a rescue tube okay the rescue Tu going to stay [Music] guard are you ready to go on on a safety sign hunt yeah okay we're going to go on an ice SP hunt and you're going to look all around the pool and see if you can find some safety signs let's go okayy where do we think the first one is do you see it already over there over there it says depth of water 12 in how how big do how deep do you think 12 in is 1 foot one foot how how tall are you um I think like 3 ft 3 ft so we should be okay let's take a walk in the water and see how deep it is oh look there's another sign what does that say no D and if it's only one foot deep why should we not dive because we might get foot deep because we can hit our heads that's exactly right because we can hit our heads so we don't want to dive in a one foot swimming pool one only one person on the side out aside right do we see do we see a lifeguard or anything around yes right where besides me do we see any other lifeguard there he is there's a life guard do we see an adult [Music] around Miss honey right I'm do when you're playing out in the sun even if you're playing in the water it's important to drink water so you stay hydrated it's also important to wear such screen to protect your skin and don't forget your scalp ears and feet what is the number one water safety rule that kids can follow to help them out swim lessons good job swim [Music] lessons we fall the pool there's two things we can do right two main big things okay if we fall in the pool we can float it's the easiest way to stay relax not get tired and just stay in the water and call for help you're going to put your tummy to the sky put your head back and look at a cloud okay focus on a cloud and you're going to kick your feet up okay so P your starfish look up comy to the sky and C if we fall in the pool and you're able to see a ledge this is the ledge of the pool you're going to reach over to it and climb out when you know the rules listen to The Lifeguard and learn how to swim it makes a day at the water Parker pool even more [Music] fun kid Vision kids do we have a good time at the water park learning about water safety today yes bye
