Liberty Village houses 11,000 Afghan evacuees
We spent the day at JBMDL— and got a close-up tour of Liberty Village. It’s a whole town, basically — 11,000 Afghan evacuees live there, grateful for shelter and safety. But those we spoke with feel torn. Even as they look forward to a new life, they’re still looking back. So far, 3500 evacuees have been resettled from Liberty Village and they can end up anywhere across the U.S.
