Jay's fixing one of my favorite parts of the elevator.
- It's the digital instrument social circular object.
- Yep, that thing.
It's super cool, trust me.
- Shouldn't be too much longer, Albie.
Ooh!
An extra spring!
(Albie laughing) - In the meantime, Tibitz and I can still make sure the elevator is ready.
Ready, Tibitz?
- Of course, Albie.
I'm always ready.
- (chuckles) Elevator buttons ready?
- [Tibitz] Elevator buttons are colorful, shiny, and activated.
Ready.
- Flower shower ready?
- [Tibitz] Flower shower at full power.
Ready.
- Pep talk ready?
(creatures cooing) - Pep talk.
Once you choose to be brave, you can face anything.
- Thanks, Tibitz!
I can face anything!
I'm ready for the day!
- Hey, Albie, I think I found the problem here.
It looks like the digital instrument social circular- Your cool thing is going to need a power restart.
- Okay.
- It means I'm going to have to turn the power off and then turn it back on again, which means all of the lights will have to go out in the elevator.
- Turn out the lights?
All the lights?
- Yeah.
- (groans) I don't like being in the dark, Jay!
I can't see anything, and that's scary!
Too scary!
- I know, Albie, but to make this fix, we're going to need to power things down for a little bit.
- But Jay, does it really have to be dark?
- I'm afraid so, Albie.
(Albie groaning) But it'll be really fast, though.
Just five Mississippis.
- Huh?
- Oh, just count to five slowly, but after each number, you say the word "Mississippi."
Let's practice with the lights on first.
- Okay.
- [Jay] Okay?
- [Both] One Mississippi.
- Yeah.
- [Both] Two Mississippi.
Three Mississippi.
Four Mississippi.
Five Mississippi!
- Nice!
Count just like that, okay?
Are you ready to do it for real?
- Yeah!
I think so.
- Okay, here we go.
In three, two, one, lights off, Loretta.
(Loretta humming) (lights clicking) - [Albie] Uh, one Mississippi.
Two Mississili-slippy.
Three Mi...
I can't do it, Jay!
Turn all the lights back on!
The lights, Loretta!
(Albie hyperventilating) - Albie, what's wrong?
We were so close!
- I'm sorry, Jay!
The lights went out, and it was all dark, and I couldn't see you, or Tibitz, or Loretta, and- - Albie, Albie, you're safe.
(Albie sobbing) The lights are back on and all your friends are okay, everything's okay.
- Okay.
Okay, I'm good now.
Thanks, Jay.
- Good.
Now let's try again- - And I'm going to make sure that I stay that way!
I'll never let it get dark on this elevator again!
- What?
- It'll never be dark in this elevator again!
Turn up the lights to maximum power, Loretta!
(Loretta humming) (Jay groaning) (heat sizzling) Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- Why is it so bright in here?
How's a chap supposed to distinguish his left from his right in all this light?
- Albie, I know you don't like the dark, but sometimes we need the dark.
- For what?
- We use the dark for lots of things.
- Like sleeping, watching movies, or looking at the stars.
- And right now, we need it to fix something.
(Albie groaning) (lights humming) - I do really want it to be fixed, but I also don't want it to be dark!
I think the dark is too scary!
- Maybe there's a way we can change how you think about the dark.
- Nope.
- (chuckles) I have a friend I think we should visit.
(Albie gasping) - Let's do it, Jay!
(drumroll playing) - Albie, could you press that button?
- You got it, Jay!
(Albie grunting) (elevator humming) - Starling mode activated, Albie!
(upbeat music) ♪ Powering up, up, up, up, up, up, up ♪ ♪ Calling voice machine ♪ Location locked on - Whoosh-wham, whooshing!
- [Both] Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!
♪ Powering down, down, down, down, down, down, down ♪ - [Tibitz] We have arrived.
(Albie and Jay singing wordlessly) (door whirring) - Hey, there!
- Hey, Jay.
- I'd like you to meet my friend, Albie.
- Hi, Albie.
My name's Ricardo, and these are my kids.
- What's up, I'm Luka.
- And I'm Emme.
- It's nice to meet you!
I'm having some trouble with the dark.
- What kind of trouble?
- Well, the dark is scary!
- I used to think the dark was scary, too.
- (hums) I love the dark.
(Luka laughing) - What?
(Jay chuckling) - [Ricardo] It's true!
I need darkness to create the art that we make, which uses light.
- Currently, this sun is going down.
- When it's dark outside, we have a special surprise.
- Until then, we can go check out my room over here, which has some of our work.
Let's go!
(chairs clattering) (upbeat music) This room has some of my light art, or projection art, in it.
But to see it, we're gonna have to turn the lights off and make it dark.
Ready?
- Hello!
- Okay, so this first piece may look like a normal painting, but when you turn the lights off, (lights clicking) it comes to life!
So this painting projection comes to life because I'm using a video projector to light up the painting, but I'm using video.
So the projector's kind of like a TV, but with light, and I'm projecting the painting back onto itself, but then I add waves, and lights coming outta the house, and clouds to really make it magical.
My favorite thing about this projection light art painting thing (laughs) is that I like the reaction it makes people have, when people realize that it's an actual painting, but it's come to life.
That's my favorite thing about it.
Lights on, please.
(lights clicking) (creature cooing) - This is my favorite piece.
Lights off, please.
(creatures cooing) (lights clicking) (creatures cooing) See, when the lights are on, the owl's gray, but when the lights are off, it turns into a beautiful masterpiece.
The light is coming from a projector up there.
I like when it blinks.
It's like I'm looking at a real owl.
Lights on, please!
(creatures cooing) (lights clicking) - My favorite piece is a couch.
When the lights are on, it's just an ordinary white couch, but when the lights are off, (lights clicking) it transforms into a colorful interactional couch, which is crazy.
You can hit different buttons to make it change modes, like this.
It changes into something completely different.
And this button, it's a special button, my favorite button.
It changes the couch to make it interactional.
If I sit down right here, I can pretend like I'm talking to someone like, "Hey!"
If I come over here, look, I can see myself!
Hi!
(laughs) Lights on, please.
(creatures cooing) (lights clicking) - Those are just some examples of how you can make art with light.
- And dark.
- That was amazing!
- Thanks, Albie.
Without the dark, you wouldn't be able to see all the colors, and patterns, and- (Luka gasping) - We almost forgot!
It's dark outside!
The surprise.
- Turn off the lights, please!
(creatures cooing) (lights clicking) (creatures cooing) (energetic music) - And boom, this room is completely transformed.
- And it's also colorful!
- You know, the dark isn't so scary when you know the things the dark could be used for.
- Thanks for stopping by, Albie, and I hope you realize that sometimes there's some cool stuff that can happen in the dark.

- [Albie] Bye, Ricardo!
(door whirring) (triumphant musical sting) - So, how are you feeling, Albie?
- I'm feeling like I want to do a super cool light show!
Flashlight and my shapes, please!
- Here you go.
(Albie squealing) - Thank you!
I'm going to shine my flashlight against the wall so it looks like a spotlight!
(Albie grunting) (flashlight clicking) There we go.
(Albie chuckling victoriously) And then, I'll put the different shapes in front of it to get different colors!
Huh.
When I shine my flashlight against the wall, I can't really see the light.
- And why do you think that is?
(Albie humming thoughtfully) - When we saw your friend play with the light, I remember they needed the dark.
So if I wanna play with the spotlight from this flashlight, maybe I need the dark, too!
- And I need the dark to fix your digital instrument social circular object.
- I guess we need the dark sometimes.
Like for restarting the dolphin itchy something cuckoo ooh-la-la.
- Yeah!
- Or doing a cool light show.
(Albie sighing) Jay, I think I'm ready to try the dark again.
- If you're ready, I'm going to ask Loretta to turn off the lights again.
While I'm still working, do you want to count to five Mississippis again?
- I think I have an even better idea.
Huggy Pepper, can you help me?
(Huggy Pepper cooing) (Albie laughing) - Okay, sounds like we're all ready.
Here we go!
In three, two, one, turn off the lights, please, Loretta.
(Loretta humming) (lights clicking) - One Huggy Pepper.
(Huggy cooing) Two cute floofs on his head.
(Huggy cooing) Three little hops.
(Huggy Pepper grunting) Four big wiggles!
(Huggy speaking gibberish) Five fun friends!
(creatures cooing) - And we're done!
Lights back on, please, Loretta.
(Loretta humming) (lights clicking) - I did it!
I did it, I wasn't afraid of the dark!
- Albie, that was the coolest countdown/light show I've ever heard!
And even better, your thing is all fixed.
- Digital instrument social circular object sufficiently powered and ready for elevator service.
(slide whistle descending) - You did it, Jay!
(energetic dance music) (creatures cooing) Today, I realized that we need the dark for some things.
It's not all bad.
Which gives me an idea!
Hey, Jay!
- Yeah, Albie?
- I think this thing would look much better with the lights out.
Loretta!
Hit the lights, please!
(Loretta humming) (lights clicking) (energetic dance music) (Albie singing wordlessly) Do the turtle!
(door whirring) (upbeat jingle) (elevator dinging) ♪ Well ♪ You better watch out, Loretta ♪ ♪ I need to get this delivery of dog treats ♪ ♪ To the puppy parade ♪ Well ♪ They ordered it three hours ago ♪ ♪ And they're getting real hungry ♪ ♪ Well Oh, hi!

Time to make sure the elevator is ready!

- Did someone say, "Puppy parade?"

- Bounce, bounce.

The elevator doors didn't open!
And what's that sound?
(distant singing) - It's coming from in there!

- Especially into this gorgeous microphone, but there's only one.
- That means only one person can hold the microphone at a time.
- Do you take turns?

But it isn't always easy to take turns.
- That's why we like to think of two words.
