Hi, my name is Juliette, and I've been jumping with the Beantown Jumpers for seven years.
Hi, my name is Malia, and I've been with Beantown Jumpers for one year now.
Beantown Jumpers is a competitive jump roping team.
When I was in seventh grade, my team The Bomb Squad, we made it to nationals and we came in the third place in the world.
Hi, my name is Samantha, I am 12 years old, and I have been jumping with Beantown Jumpers for one year.
We do competitions, performances, and we teach younger kids double Dutch.
Double Dutch is such a great sport because you only need two ropes and a couple of friends.
One, two, out... Before we even do double Dutch, we do stretching and exercises so we don't get an injury and so our legs are fit enough so we can be able to jump.
One, two, three, four... We do so much jumping, and it's a great workout.
We always take lots of water breaks.
When I teach other kids how to double Dutch, it makes me feel good because every kid that I teach, they look like they have a lot of fun with it.
Ready?
KIDS: Yes!
My favorite thing to do about double Dutch is learning the tricks.
Now I'm going to teach these girls how to do a pop-up.
The rope turners are going to say, "One, two, 180, 180."
One, two, 180, 180.
One, two, 180, 180.
At first, I couldn't do the pop-up.
That was good, but try to do it faster.
One, two, 180, 180.
One, two, 180, 180.
I tried doing the pop-up and it was really frustrating at first.
When you do it the first time, you don't do a full 180.
You just do, like, half and then go to full 180.
You're going to try to do one, two, 180, then a full 180.
One, two, 180, 180.
Good job!
Perfect!
One, two, 180, 180.
Good job!
There you go!
Once I got it, I felt pretty proud of myself.
One, two... You really have to focus and pay attention in double Dutch.
We're practicing this trick for our next Beantown Jumpers show.
We've got to get this perfect.
This move has really built up my arm strength!
Up, up, up!
You've got to do it again and again and again and again until you do it right.
One, two, down, up, up, up...!
Good job!
