Okay.
This one?
Yes.
It's sad.
It's really sad and I always cry when I read stuff like this.
I'm gonna try my best not to because it hits so close to home.
My father and my uncle were boarding school.
They went to our local boarding school, which was the S Sa S St.
Andrew's Mission.
Yeah.
What I'll want you to do is read that twice through and then check in with you.
Right.
Okay.
Exactly.
Okay.
Christian missionaries operated some of the first Native American boarding schools in 1819.
The Indian Civilization Fund Act gave money to churches and other groups to convert Native Americans to Christianity through education.
I think this kind of story is important because this is the truth about what happened.
I work in health and wellness, and this is a ripple effect of what has happened in the past from Native children being taken away from their families, from their culture, being stripped away from them, from this power over that happened to our people.
It is still evident today, and you can see it within the trauma that the people have.
She has spent years trying to uncover her extended family's history in boarding schools.
I've never liked my voice, so for my voice to be being chose to be a part of things like this to to get the story across, I really have to step into my responsibility.
So I just answered the call.
The federal government removed Native American children from their homes, and so now we're starting to say, oh, historical traumas, that's a thing in that we can actually find ways to cope with it and heal from it, and start really taking our power back and loving ourselves again.
And so we're really, you know, we're in a time of rebirth, I feel like, where native people are really starting to love themselves again and be proud of who they are and realize what they have, which is so special.
So I'm honored to be a part of it.
