Rereading helps children understand the stories better, learn new words, and find things they may have not noticed before. My daughter loves when I read to her, especially if it's the same book from the day before.
You turn the page?
- Yeah.
- [Mother] Sometimes, she'll ask for the same story every day.
We'll do this for about a week, so I try to change my voice to keep it interesting.
Even if she's not right here.
But there's a lot of benefits to rereading a book.
She understands the story better, learns new words, and it keeps her excited about reading.

Plus, she likes knowing what's going to happen next.
Why is he upset?

We also talk about the pictures.
Rereading the book allows her to see things she didn't notice before.

You don't always need a new book for story time.
Sometimes, you can learn new things with an old favorite.
