♪ Wild Kratts [Martin] On the continent of North America.
[Chris] Along the shorelines of the Atlantic Ocean.
[Martin] We're here in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed.
It's us the Kratt Brothers.
I'm Chris.
I'm Martin and we are searching for a really really cool bird.
It has awesome features.
It's big, has a really long neck, a spear-like beak, And it's blue.
That's one of its best features.
Well, it's not one of its best features.
Yeah it is.
Blue's my favorite colour.
(Both laughing) Coming in over the treetops that is a Blue Heron.
Great Blue Herons fly like prehistoric creatures.
It reminds me of a pterodactyl.
Great Blue Herons nest in groups called rookeries.
They really like tall trees where predators can't get to them.
Here, we've got another Blue heron coming in.
They look like they're moving kind of slow just because they have those huge wings that they have to flap, but really these birds can fly pretty fast and cover a long distance in no time as they go out looking for food.
Oh ho, this is cool.
Great Blue Herons fly with their necks folded back and their feet reaching past their tail, so when they land, their legs are already in position.
[Martin] The Great Blue Heron is one of the largest birds in North America.
They use their long thin legs to wade through water.
[Chris] He moves really slowly to make sure he doesn't scare his prey.
Waiting patiently for his chance and then, boom!
He strikes with his spear-like beak.
Imagine if we had Blue Heron powers.
The long legs and stalking ability.
The patience and laser focus.
The lightning strike.

Just think about how amazing any heron power suit would be.
True.
Oh yeah, all herons are totally aw esome creatures Martin.
Hey and you know what?
I think I'm thinking what you're thinking.
It's not the colour of the creature power suit.
It's the power of the creature within.
[Aviva And Koki] Yeah!
Yea, you got it.
We're both thinking about what heron powers can do.
Time for some wildlife observations.

So blue!
[Chris] Long neck and lightning strike with a spear beak, this Blue heron has some great creature powers.
Yeah, you guys need to break it down.
Make more observations.
I've got to make a Blue Heron Power Suit.
Blue?
Aw, it would be great to find a Green Heron.
Why don't we look around for one?
Green herons hunt the same way and have similar powers.
There must be a Green Heron around here someplace.
But Chris, there's a Blue Heron right in front of us and he's still hunting.

What if the turtle ship wasn't so big?
And I could hold it in the palm of my hand?
Yes.
Then I could steal it and everything in it!
All the inventions and technology, all at once!
Then she'll see who's the smartest.
(laughing) Hello little Robber-bots.
Listen up Robber-bots.
Go get the Miniaturizer.
It's in the turtle ship.
And then I'll meet you under it.

[Koki] One of the largest birds in North America and the biggest heron too.
[Jimmy Z] I like the long neck.
[Koki] Yep folded up like a noodle.
[Aviva] But then it shoots forward into a long spear.

Hello tiny tinies!
(laughing) [All] Ahh!
Back to the Tortuga!
(laughing) Huh?

Zach thinks he knows everything, but there's one thing he doesn't know.
We have our new Blue Heron creature power discs.
I'd like see Zach deal with those lightning fast Blue Heron spear beaks when Martin and Chris come to the rescue!
Martin, Chris!
Zach has captured the Tortuga.
[Both] What?
We need your help!
Blue Heron discs are on the way.

We're on it.
What?
But these are tiny!
They don't fit!
They're minuscule!
Oh no!
We forgot.
Zach miniaturized us.
We're teeny tiny.
So the discs are teeny tiny too!
Now let's get all the Wild Kratts inventions and technology out of that shell.
Hmm.
Oh, this doesn't look good.
I know what we can do.
Make one huge disc in here and program it with Blue Heron powers.
Great idea Koki.
Bros stay there with the Blue heron.
We'll get you the disc.
We will, but hurry.
Guys, Zach is going to cut the Tortuga in half!
Uh oh.
Get us out of here Jimmy!
Koki, help me!
Whoa!
We have to fabricate a giant Blue Heron power disc, but I'll need some more parts.
I'm on it!
Activate turtle wheels.
Stay still!
Stop moving!
(grunting) Zach's quick.
I can't dodge him forever.
Flight mode!
Argh!
Get back here!
Huh?
You can't get away from me!
Ahh!
Argh!
Zachbots, get them!
Okay, fabrication complete.
Programming.
Get ready to teleport it Jimmy.
I can't teleport it while I'm driving!
And we're being chased by Zachbots, so I can't stop driving!
Okay, so I have another plan.
I'm going to take it to them.
How're you going to do that?
Like this.
Attach thrusters!
Great idea Koki.
We'll make sure the Zachbots follow us.
Open the sunroof Jimmy.
Initiate thrusters!
Whoa!
They didn't see me.
Where are the Bros?
There they are!
Coming in for a landing.
Oh wow!
Oh ho, yeah, oh.
Hmm, what?
Hey, what're all those Zachbots doing up there?
What?
They're chasing a mini Tortuga!
(gasps) And there's something else.
Huh?
A mini Koki is flying?
On a creature power disc?
Are you kidding me?
Whoa!
Ahh!
Ahh, here Bros!
A Blue Heron power disc!
Huh?
Ow!
Whew.
Sorry Martin.
A creature power disc is not easy to fly.
(laughs) Nice one Koki.
[Both] Yeah!
I managed to escape with the disc.
We need Blue Heron powers to rescue the Tortuga and get back the miniaturizer.
Hey Chris, you want to activate this one?
Nah.
You're the blue brother!
Yeah blue is my favorite color.
Well you better hurry bro.
We got to rescue that Tortuga.
Insert Blue Heron disc.
Hey Blue Beaky, can you lend me some Blue Heron power?
Yes!
Touch Blue heron.
Activate Blue heron Power.
Wow.
I like it, but I still got to test this out.
Hold still Chris.
I'm going to try and grab your shoelace.
(gulps) Wah!
Yeah, nailed it!
Oh great.
Oof.
Ow.
I can't hold them off for long!
We've got to try to hide somewhere.
In the murky water.
Down there!
Get ready for a crash dive.
Engage water features.
(splash) (splashing and crashing) Yeah!
Whew.
Great driving Jimmy.
Come on let's split while the Zachbots are trying to get unstuck from the muck.
You got it.
Sneaking out.
What?
Ahh!
Crab!
A monster crab!
Uh-oh full reverse!
I think we're trapped.
Evasive maneuvers.
She's got us!
And look at those mouth parts.
She's trying to bite through the glass!
That's not good.
[Aviva] She wants to eat us!
[Jimmy Z] It's going to flood!
[Both] Ahh!
Was that a Blue Heron beak?
I think so!
We've got to get a look!
Periscope up!
Yes!
With the crab in his beak!
Whew, the Blue Heron saved us.
Unless he just saved us for later.
What if the Blue Heron is still hungry?
We're snack size!
(gasps) (Both) Uh oh.
(Both) We're going to be eaten!
Relax guys.
It's just Martin.
Well me, in my awesome new Blue Heron power suit!
Whew!
What a relief.
I thought it was over when I saw that heron beak coming at us.
Here you go bro.
Are you okay in there?
Yep!
And I've got a surprise for you Chris.
I made another Blue Heron power disc, real size.
Oh, thanks Aviva.
One question, do you think it'll still work if I touch a Green Heron to activate it?
Ah, no time to be picky Chris.
I think you better just touch the nearest heron and activate.
Look!
Get my tiny Tortuga back!
That's a lot of Zachbots.
I'll need some help!
Here they come!
Hurry Chris!
Activate heron powers, please come out green.
Please come out green.
Ahh!
Watch it Blue boy!
Whoa, thanks for the warning Zach.
I didn't see that one Uh-oh!
Chris!
Yes!
Awww!
It's blue!
Really, really blue!
Ah that's no problem, this is a problem!
Oh no!
Coming to the Martin rescue!
Ahh!
(whimpering) One down.
Yeah, gotcha!
[Martin] Woo hoo!
Okay fine.
So you keep the turtle ship and it's technology for today, but I get it tomorrow!
Not so fast, Zach.
You've still got something of ours.
We'll need this to get our friends back to real size.
And the Tortuga too!
Oh!
I'll get you next time Wild Rats!
[Both] That's Wild Kratts!
Yeah!
Well everything's back to normal again and you know what?
You look pretty good in blue bro.
No I really don't.
Green's my color.
Then why didn't you touch that Green Heron right there?
It was there the whole time.
Huh?
Oh!
(All laughing) Where have you been buddy?
(All laughing) The Great Blue Heron is the largest heron in North America.
Spends most of his day standing around, looking down into the water for his next meal.
Not that turtle.
And when they find a good hunting spot that's when the Great Blue Heron's amazing creature powers are revealed.
It starts with the legs.
Those long legs are perfectly designed for wading through the water, shallow or deep, looking for prey.
And the eyes.
Laser focused with great depth perception, so he can see his target way do wn under the water's surface.
The patient Blue Heron waits, waits and, strike!
Not this time, but that beak is what gets the heron its meal.
That is a great collection of creature powers in one bird.
Sometimes when he's looking around and watching the pond, he takes a little break for feather maintenance.
That's another creature power of the long neck.
It can reach every single feather.
He preens them, keeps them dry and keeps them healthy, so he can fly again.
Oh yeah, Great Blue Herons are awesome, but they're not the only herons.
They're one species in a family called Ardeidae which has 64 different species all around the world.
There might be some more around here too.
Want to check it out?
Why not?
See if we can find some.
[Chris] Let's do it.
[Martin] Hey Chris, we got heron action.
A Tri-colored Heron.
[Chris] And a Snowy Egret.
Wow, hey and they're hunting.
Not waiting patiently this time.
This is a run chase and grab strategy.
They still use the long legs and the long neck and the sharp beak.
Oh.
[Chris] They're quick.
Yeah, he got one.
Hey, it's like they're competing for food.
Who's going to catch more?
The Tri-colored Heron?
Or the Snowy Egret?
The hunting's good.
That is a great display of heron creature power.
So next time you're near a wetland, keep your eyes peeled for the amazing Great Blue heron.
