As the final bell rings and students spill out of the classrooms into the wonders of summer break.

One question on many parents minds is how to keep kids reading when the school year ends.

Seattle Public Library's Summer Quest is an all ages program that includes activity trackers for kids, teens, and adults to sing, talk, read, write and play.

The goal is to encourage reading and learning through curiosity, family, routines, and community.

To further embrace summer reading at home, librarians often encourage children, especially reluct... to try comics and graphic novels.

And yes, that 100% counts as summer reading.

There are numerous resources available throughout the northwest from Team Read, Washington Reading Corps, Prime Time Family Reading, and even the Imagination Library of Washington.
