Buffalo has begun to put into place a number of green infrastructure projects.

In his 2020 State of the City address, Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown announced that the city would launch a $30 million environmental impact bond — the largest in the country’s history. The bond will allow the city to incentivize private property owners to install and maintain green infrastructure, something the Buffalo Sewer Authority has already been doing as part of its Rain Check initiative.
