Nature Cat: I hearby proclaim to all bugs and birds, this balcony is ready for you!
Daisy: Man-oh-man.
Now what?!
Deep Voice: If you build it, they will come!
Nature Cat: Uh.
We already did that!
We built a nice place for animals to get food and rest.
So why aren't they coming?
Deep Voice: Oh, right, my bad!
Hal: Whoa, where'd that come from?
Squeeks: What is it?
Nature Cat: It's Sadie's Nature Notebook!
With Sadie's notes about the bugs and birds she's seen in the neighborhood.
Squeeks: (Gasps) Look at all this!
Butterflies, ladybugs, honeybees, bumblebees, moths.
Wow!
And chickadees, wrens and ruby-throated hummingbirds.
Ruby-throated hummingbirds!
Daisy: Hey yeah, Sadie's notebook can tell us what kinds of animals to attract since they are already in the neighborhood!
Nature Cat: But how?!
Deep Voice: Ahem.
Turn the page.
Hal: Ooo!
That mysterious voice sure is helpful!
Squeeks: Check it out!
Sadie's notes show where in the neighborhood she saw these bugs and birds.
Hal: Oh!
She saw a honeybee on a flower that was on a strawberry plant!
Oh!
And a wren eating a bug...
Nature Cat: Now we know what critters we should focus on, the food they eat, and the places they take shelter.
Daisy: Guys, maybe to attract local birds and bugs, we should put plants out here that grow in this neighborhood.
Squeeks: But can you even grow plants on a balcony?
Will rain reach the plants?
Will they get enough sun?
And what about the wind?
Ah!
So many questions!
Nature Cat: Good points, Squeeks.
Let's do a quick "balcony okay for growing plants" check!
Nature Cat: Woah!
Nature Cat: It can get windy.
That must be why the other plants fell down !
Daisy: Then we'll need sturdy plants in heavier pots so they don't get blown over by the wind.
Squeeks: We're gonna need water for the plants and the animals.
Bue we can't just wait for it to rain?
Daisy: Copy that!
So we need hardy plants that don't need to be watered all the time.
Nature Cat: Hmm, not a lot of tall buildings around to shade the balcony... Daisy: Good observation, Nature Cat.
So sunlight is not a problem.
Looks like we should be able to grow plants here!
Nature Cat: Let's also hang a couple of plants that have vines to create shelter in the corners.
And maybe if we put the flowering current over there, a bird might build a nest next spring!
Daisy: I think we're in pretty sweet shape now.
Nature Cat: It's time to build our habitat.
Tally ho!
(upbeat music) ♪ Nature Cat: I must say, this looks amazing!
Hal: Sure does, Nature Cat, it looks all naturey and habitaty and all at the same time!
Daisy: I can't wait to hear what Sadie thinks !
Sadie: What!
This is crazy!
Gang: Sadie!
Sadie: When did you guys get here?
!
How did you do this!?
Hal: Do you like it?
Sadie: Like it?
I love it!
It's like being in the nature playground.
Hey!
Do you think any birds or bugs will come visit?
Sadie: It's a butterfly and a bumblebee!
Here!
Right here!
Heh ha!
That's crazy!
Gang: If we build it, they will come!
Nature Cat: We couldn't have done it without help from that deep mysterious voice.
Deep Voice: Why, thank you !
Sadie: Wait!
Sir Galahad?
Ha!
who knew you were so helpful!
?
That hamster's crazy, right?
Sir Galahad: Helpful, shmelpful.
I...uh, well, I love nature too!
Nature Cat: We did it, gang!
