Carol Coe couldn’t stay away from social studies if she tried. After 35 years as a high school social studies and language arts teacher, followed by six years of work on a doctorate at UW, she decided to help the WA State Council for Social Studies pass the Civic Education Initiative. Her work there supports teachers with superior professional development.
