A statue of Chief Standing Bear is unveiled in Washington, D.C.

On 09-18-19, a brand new statue of Chief Standing Bear was unveiled in the U.S. Capitol.This inspiring event was set in motion two years earlier when the Nebraska legislature passed a bill to replace William Jennings Bryan with Ponca Chief Standing Bear as one of two heroic figures representing the state. (A bronze statue of author Willa Cather will join Standing Bear in Statuary Hall in 2020.)
