Grand Rapids Police Chief Eric Payne officially takes over the City’s Police Department.
After former Police Chief David Rahinksy surprised a number of people with his sudden decision to retire and move to Florida, Grand Rapids City Manager Mark Washington hired a consulting firm to conduct a national search for the City’s next Police Chief. Dozens applied, and ultimately, Washington decided that Eric Payne was the man for the job.
