This is a team that likes to roll.
Meanwhile, for Dike-New Hartford Wolverines, two time champions with returning three starters from last year's team.
2A defense are gritty and tough.
A couple of sisters on the team who average 12 or more points per game.
Jadyn Petersen leads the way already in career points and rebounds.

Final round of Iowa girls state possible tournament.
I am Jim and have the pleasure of narrating and commenting on one of the big athletic charges in the entire Midwest.
15,000 fans filing into the auditorium right now.
A championship game between Minneapolis, number one rated team with Iowa girls Beth bowl a team of essential Iowa to capture the imagination of all of the fans.
One of the fastest teams we've ever seen in basketball.
>> The year was 1973.
The United States armed forces were leaving Vietnam.
Senate Watergate hearings were just beginning.
The exorcist was terrifying moviegoers across the country.
While Tony Orlando and Dawn told the world to tie a yellow ribbon around the old oak tree.
The Minneapolis girls basketball team entered 1972 / 73 season is prohibitive favorite to win the state tournament.
They started the year as the top ranked team.
After suffering a heartbreaking loss in the second round of 1972 state tournament quarterfinals, they were determined to bring home the coveted state championship trophy.
in the regular season, winning all but one game by 11 or more points.
After rolling through regionals, Minneapolis was a heavy favorite to win the tournament.
91-41.
And Colfax 90-68 behind 72 point From sophomore superstar in future Hall of Famer Jeff hope.
Semi finals thought defending champion Roland gave Minneapolis all I could handle.
Northwestern led early in the fourth quarter.
Into the finals with 67-57 victory.
The championship game pitted Minneapolis against a foe.
It was Marsha O'Neill, when the maker, Susie and posturing and Aaron Wilson that bottled up the high score.
Holding them to 22% shooting.
Minneapolis led by Depakote but Heather and Diane Tucker.
50% for the game as they completed their perfect season with 58-51 victory over Adele.
The state championship was a second in school victory for Minneapolis and their legendary coach Vernon Bud McLaren.
1973 state title was the last that the coach would win.
The one-time coach led them to 21 state tournament appearances.
Including unprecedented streak of 12 consecutive trips to the auditorium.
Coach McLaren passed away in 1999.
He compiled an amazing record 8 losses and is named in his honor.
Let's look at this year's state tournament on the team back to Des Moines.

>> Brad: Minneapolis became a girls basketball powerhouse in 1960s and 70s.
Girls of all ages in the small Southeast Iowa community, inspired to be part of the tradition of success.
1972/73 season was certainly a dream come true.
>> All right, the moment we have been waiting for.
Fourth-quarter.
Minneapolis.
>> My name is Heather and I was a senior on 1973 Minneapolis championship team.
>> I am Diane Tucker powers and I was a senior forward.
>> I am sure impelling and I was a senior guard.
>> They kept the thing building and went to state 16 times in a row.
Something I wanted to be.
Wanted to be a Minneapolis player be like those women.
My mom made me a little orange basketball outfit.
I have my high tops and a basketball and I was carrying a pendant that said future Minneapolis 1969 -73, we hope.
It was what I wanted to do.
We admired the girls that played.
>> We knew we would make it.
We played hard.
Coach was amazing.
We know if we followed his bleeding he would get us there.
He was so brilliant.
>> Tiger drill.
You would think with that many seniors on your team, you would not still be working on fundamentals, but we were.
That was what made us who we are as basketball players.
We were fundamentally sound.
Was always apparent when we played other teams.
>> We were well known for not letting the other team have many points.
We are very good defensively.
And getting the ball off the court.
>> Tucker underneath.
>> I think people think of 1973 Minneapolis team and everyone mentioned Deb Coates, our sophomore phenom.
People got so that they had to guard her and not us.
Diane and I started looking at Deb.
Here is Deb and three people standing like this around her.
Yet, we would get her the ball and she would score major points.
>> She had the perfect turnaround jump shot.
It was unstoppable.
It was fun.
We do not mind not scoring a basket when you have someone that will score 32 points.
>> A lot of the teams we play have very small gems.
A couple of them, we played in That is where the possible gym floor was.
>> You're focused on the other people on your team and the coach.
You tune everybody else out.
It is a bigger court than we were use to.
We all worked together and continued to do what we could do.
It would get a little loud back in the day.
Every seat was always taken.
It was a sellout.
>> Minneapolis and went to the state championship.
Icing on the cake.

Final score is Minneapolis 58 to 91.
>> That is when you notice the crowd.

You purposely try to shut all of that out, so that you can stay focused.
At the point the buzzer went off at the end of the game, that is when you notice everybody from town is there cheering you on.
It is just the greatest feeling.
>> One of the highlights to me is when coat got his award for the coach.
I was really proud of that.
>> I was also.
>> And was neat when he went away to college or whatever and you said you were for Minneapolis, they would ask, did you play basketball?
A nice way to break the ice.
For years afterwards, people would remember Minneapolis.
It was a big thing.
>> You learn how to be part of the team.
You rely on your teammates and together to publish something.
A good recipe for success in being successful in life.
>> We learned the fundamentals and skills.
The ethics how to work together.
It was invaluable experience playing for Minneapolis.
>> Brad: what a great time and has been in Minneapolis.
