Today, we look back to our past, but also on to our future of Kentucky's court system.
Kentucky voters approve this important reform and expansion of our judicial branch.
And on January 1st, 1976, this new system became a reality with the Kentucky Supreme Court.
This new Court of Appeals and a revamped circuit court system.
Today, we're also celebrating a brand new headquarters and home of the Kentucky Court of Appeals that was created by that important reform.
This was a very much long overdue project, and we know that this building will give them the modern and healthy workspace that they deserve.
It's equipped to meet and support today's needs and tomorrow's needs as well.
We're very grateful that this project is going to have as our new court facilities do, enhanced security measures, ensuring a safe environment for the public and the dedicated professionals who work within the walls of the building.
And equal importance is the improved accessibility features that will allow everyone, regardless of their physical abilities, to have access to justice.
And today, that's not just a technical requirement.
It's a moral imperative.
We're given the opportunity to build something whose value extends beyond our longtime.
Make this new courthouse be known not only for its design and security technology, but for the quality of justice that is administered to in may be a place where every person is trading treated with dignity, where the rule of law is honored.
And we're the people of Kentucky.
We serve with integrity.
This is an especially meaningful time in the life of the court.
We commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Kentucky Court of Appeal is we are also taking the first visible steps today toward a home designed to serve this institution for generations to come.
