Today you're going to learn how to write the lowercase letters, W, R, and S. The first one is the letter W. Let's take a look at it.

It begins at the baseline with an undercurve to the midline, then a slant back down to the baseline, an undercurve to the midline, a slant back down to the baseline, then an undercurve to slightly above the midline, and a little retrace, and a swing right for the finish.

Let's look at it again.

Undercurve slant, undercurve slant, undercurve retrace and swing.

Now watch as I write the letter W on my paper.

Beginning at the baseline with an undercurve to the midline, then a slant back down to the baseline, undercurve to the midline, slant to the baseline, undercurve this time just slightly above the midline.

And I'm lifting my pen here so that you can see that.

Sometimes I'll do that when I'm showing you how to make a letter, but when you normally make it, you would not lift your pencil.

Then a little retrace and a swing right for the finish.

Hold your pencil in the air and I would like for you to trace the letter W. Ready?

Number one is the undercurve.

Two is the slant and the next undercurve.

Three is the slant and the next undercurve.

And four is the little retrace and swing.

Check to see that you started at the baseline, that you came up to the midline, then back down to the baseline, up to the midline again, back down to the baseline, and on the third time, slightly above the midline and a little swing that finishes at the midline.

And there it is, the letter W. The next letter you're going to learn is the letter R. Let's take a look at it.

Now watch as I make the letter S on the board.

Then a little retrace and a curve back around and tie.

Then an undercurve to the midline for the finish.

And you curve back around and the tie means that you touch the first undercurve, and then you finish at the midline with an undercurve.

And there it is.

The letter S. Now watch as I use the letter S in the word sit.

Beginning with the letter S at the baseline, with the undercurve, slightly above the midline, then curve back around and tie.

Now this undercurve will connect very nicely to the letter I and the slant and the letter T. Undercurve, slant, finish.

Dot the I and cross the T. Hold your pencil in the air and I would like for you to write the word sit.

Now the I, undercurve, slant the T. Undercurve, slant, finish, dot the I and cross the T. Put your pencil on the baseline, and I would like for you to write the word sit.

The letters R and S in the word rust.

Beginning with the letter R. Undercurve, retrace, slide, slant.

Now the letter U. Undercurve, slant.

Under curve, slant, the letter S. Undercurve, retrace, curve back around and tie.

And the letter T, undercurve, slant, finish and cross the T. Hold your pencil in the air and trace the word rust.

I've written the word wrist on the board, and I would like for you to look at it.

It's a good word to practice because it has the W, the R, and the S in it.

And notice how we have to use a special little connection between the letter W to begin the letter R. I would like for you to hold your pencil in the air and trace the word wrist.
