Decommissioned but Not Decontaminated

Clip: Season 1 Episode 25 | 9m 46sVideo has Closed Captions

A northern Michigan town is taking on the U.S. Air Force to clean up PFAS chemicals.

At Wurtsmith Air Force Base in Oscoda, Michigan — and at more than 700 other military bases across the country — crews used and trained with firefighting foam made with PFAS chemicals for years. Now PFAS foam forms on the surface of nearby Van Etten Lake leaving contaminated water. Has the Air Force done enough to clean up the problem? Some in the community don’t think so. E1025/Seg1
