Captioned by Media Access Group at WGBH access.wgbh.org >> I'm Erin, and I'm an industrial engineer.
I work for Hewlett Packard.
I'm an environmental product steward.
I make sure that HP is doing the right thing for the environment.
I get to rip printers apart to see how recyclable they are.

You don't want to throw stuff into a landfill.
Out of a printer that was 2010 grams we have 54 grams of material that can't be recycled.
This is a highly recyclable product.
We have a prototype of a product that's made of 100% recycled plastic.
This is a prototype printer that's made from corn.
I was working for Hewlett Packard as an industrial engineer, and I started thinking I would love to help HP become a better global citizen.
But I didn't think HP had a job like that, and I found out they did, and now I'm doing it.
