A lever is a rod with a pivot point.
Here, the pivot is closer to one end than the other.
When the lever is pushed, the longer arm travels a greater distance because it's farther from the pivot point.
If an object is launched from the end of the longer arm, it will move faster, because the longer arm will travel farther in the same amount of time as the shorter arm.
