What book have you got, Joyanne?
- So, the book I have is Dolphins on the Sand by Jim Arnosky.
And he illustrates and writes the story.
He is a self-made naturalist and artist, which means he spends time out in nature studying wildlife of all kinds.
So, the plant variety and the animal variety.
And he draws and paints the illustrations for the books that he writes.
So, this story, Dolphins on the Sand, is about a dolphin rescue that took place.
He and his wife were on one of their travels and they actually witnessed a pod of dolphins get stuck on a sandbar.
And when the tide went out, they didn't have enough water to be able to get themselves back out to the ocean.
And so, a massive rescue started from people on the mainland.
And so, he was entranced by the story and then decided to write about it and draw pictures.
So, that's what this book is all about, is the dolphins who beached themselves, and then all of the people who just spent time to rescue them and make sure that they could go back out into the ocean to live their lives and have a good time.
So, definitely a book worth investigating.
