That means "yes".
- Add-bot, how many jellybeans are in this jar?
- There are exactly 8.
- He's wrong.
I put 16 jellybeans in this jar, but he only counted 8.
- Maybe he's just having an off day.
- I didn't think robots could have "off days".
Perhaps I should reboot myself.
- To find out if Add-bot is working okay, let's just pour out the jellybeans and count them.
Let's see: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8.
He's right, there's only 8 jellybeans in that jar, which is exactly HALF of the 16 jellybeans you put in there.
- Uh, half?
- When you divide something into two parts that have the same number, each part is half.
- But then what happened to the other half of the jellybeans?
- Did we fly through a zone that "halves" things?
- Or did we go so fast that jellybeans disintegrated?
- (both): This is A BIG PROBLEM!
- Intergalactic Superhero Team!
With our powers combined, we will solve this mystery!
- I have them.
- Wow, that was fast.
- I needed them for an experiment.
I was gonna test their taste by eating them.
- Let's put the jellybeans back in the jar to help Richard with his experiment right now, right?
- The new total has doubled.
There are now 16 jellybeans in the jar.
- When you add a number of something to itself, it doubles.
Doubling means you have twice as much.
Doubling and halving are opposites.
Halving means you cut the amount in half.
- Cat!
- Just one last goodbye!
Goodbye.
- And doubling means you have twice as much.
- The jellybeans are totally back!
- And so...
