- The thing that I try to do with these young men is not just speak to their position, because their position can change, but I like to speak to their purpose.

- [Narrator] Kingmakers of Seattle is a mentorship program for black male middle school and high school students, referred to as kings, taught to by black male facilitators.

- And I tell them, I says, I will always meet you where you're at.

I'm not gonna come down there, but I will help pull you up and I will help bring you up to my level.

And then my hope and my prayer is that at some point you will stand on my shoulders and you will go and you will take what I've given you, and you'll go further and faster and farther than I've gone, and you'll teach the next generation.

I like to say that it's often, it's bigger than just the Kingmakers because I think that if you use the ingredients that we use, that you're gonna have a pretty good success rate with not just kids, but with anybody.
