Who is the owner?
Michelle, this is a place that my wife and my daughter loves to come here as well, even though my daughter is only two.
So we try not to give her too much sugar.
I think it's a great idea.
It is a great idea.
But, you've added something new.
But for anybody who, hasn't seen you before on the show, tell me about Paddy shack and what it is that you do here.
So Paddy shack is a hand-dipped ice cream shop that we have Wisconsin based ice cream, 32 flavors.
Scoop it in a cup and a cone.
We're family owned and operated.
We've been around for five and a half years.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So why did you start this?
Like, what were we doing before that?
You're like, I know what I'm going to do.
I'm going to start a paddy shack and ice cream.
So funny story.
Before I am in nutrition.
And so my degree is actually in dietetics.
But that has nothing to do with why we started ice cream, other than the fact of my addiction to ice cream.
Yes.
I've been an unpleasant addict to ice cream my whole life.
Not it.
Yes, I like that.
And so in Granger, there was no hand-dipped ice cream when we opened.
Yeah.
And so we thought this area definitely needs some hand scooped ice cream.
We just had the soft serve around, and I know that this time of the year, obviously you've got things going on in the summer where everyone thinks about ice cream.
And I know the winter months are a little bit harder.
So I know there's different things that you do throughout the year as well as ice cream.
Like you have a ice cream breakfast that's in the winter or two.
That is in the winter.
That's always the first Saturday of February.
Oh, is that what it is?
Okay, yeah.
Just in case you're in the market for ice cream in February.
But let's get through.
But what else have you got going on here that people kind of enjoy?
I know today we're here for our new product.
But before we get to that, like, what else can people enjoy besides the hats?
Thank you for asking.
We also have ice cream cakes.
We have ice cream pies so you can call ahead and order, or you can just come into our freezer and grab and go.
Yeah.
For those we have donuts, a little state fair mini donuts.
So those are always a great add on if you're wanting something a little bit warm and it actually goes pairs really well with the cold ice cream, I was just thinking, as you said, I've never thought about an ice cream cake, but it was my daughter's birthday recently and I don't like traditional cake because I like the cream on top.
And then all the the rest of it is just like the icing and stuff.
But the whole cake is just ridiculously repetitive to me.
But an ice cream cake?
I never thought of an ice cream.
Yeah, so I'm sorry.
I just woke up from a ten year coma and I didn't know ice cream cakes existed.
Yes.
So tell me a little bit about why we're here today and what's new here.
So why you're here today?
I want to thank you for coming out.
And we are launching what we've called a dirty soda.
Yeah.
And this dirty soda is a new phenomenon that is coming this way.
We're trying to be ahead of that wave.
And it is a soda pop.
Like your favorite soda.
If you like Coke, doctor Pepper, sprite, whatever.
And then we flavor it with different syrups and like coconut or vanilla or peach strawberry, watermelon.
And then we add a little dash of cream in there.
And it really just elevates that soda.
Yeah, to a whole new level.
You're going to be surprised.
Okay.
I think we should make one.
And I know you've got the menu here.
So I was trying to look at all this.
So I do like soda but I try not to drink it too often.
But you also have like sparkling water or soda water version.
So can we make the strawberry fields one.
The strawberry fields?
Absolutely.
Do you like to make it?
I'll try.
I'll help you.
Okay.
I'll probably butcher it.
It's pretty easy.
I'll probably still.
But you can pump your hand.
You can do it.
All right, all right, all right.
So what do you need to make them?
Well, where did this even come from?
I mean, I've heard rumors about dirty sodas, but.
Well, so the dirty soda started, to our knowledge.
Well, let's back up it.
It has been a history, and people have been making these, like the Shirley Temple.
Okay, the Roy Rogers.
Right.
Technically the same.
Those are.
Yeah.
So that is what this is, but just on a different level with more, more, more options.
But then in recent like pop culture, I guess culture there is show.
Yeah.
The Housewives show, in based out of Salt Lake City.
Okay.
And so they have really elevated this phenomenon.
Okay.
So is that in like the Mormon the Mormon Housewives show in Salt Lake.
Oh, that's actually a TV show.
Yes.
Wow.
I don't watch all them.
My wife does, but I can't stand all of them.
Right.
Because they're all called Real Housewives and then they're all fake, so I just.
Yeah.
So anyway.
Yeah, tell me about what we need here.
So we're going to grab a cup.
You can grab that middle one.
All right.
And then we need ice okay.
It's important to have ice.
Yeah.
So we just fill about halfway.
We have the good ice.
Good ice is important nowadays.
I like big thing.
Hey, I like the small.
The small.
Yes.
Okay.
And now we want the strawberry field.
So that is.
Where's my strawberry.
Oh right here.
Okay.
So you are going to put that up there okay.
And two pumps.
Come on.
Oh and one two.
Oh wait one okay.
All right.
And then we are going to just do soda water.
So that's this one okay.
That good?
You can tell I've never done a day's work in my time out.
Okay.
And then we're going to add a little bit of cream.
So pretty simple basic creamer here.
Just a little splash.
So just regular cream Yeah.
That's it.
Yeah.
That's it.
Wow.
And it's delicious.
That's all these Salt Lake City housewives do.
Yes.
Like these.
Yeah.
All right.
I don't like straws.
Oh.
All right, I'm not a big straw person.
I might need a little more strawberry.
No, I like it.
It's very refreshing on a hot day.
Yes.
So we've also, like, implemented what we would call a refresher as well.
And it's just soda water or plain water.
Yeah.
And then my favorite right now is plain water and sugar free peach sirup.
Yeah.
That's it.
And it's like the perfect like get in your car.
We can drink it all day long.
Yeah.
Come back, fill it up.
but this is a fun treat.
Exactly.
Same way there there are people that this is their thing.
This is what they do.
And this is the, their wow.
Their one vice Yeah.
I you this we can make this better for them.
Yeah.
And we can bring them here and let them enjoy that fun treat with us.
Yeah.
That's what we want to do.
Exactly.
And you know, I'm sure there are some people that don't like ice cream.
So, at least they can come here and find other treats for the whole family.
Yes, definitely.
And speaking of ice cream and the treats we also have, we can make this a dirty float.
And so with ice cream, with ice cream and that it also just it's I hate to always use the word elevate, but like it just lifts that flavor up.
So we just had a, Coke float.
We added cherry, we added chocolate ice cream.
Yeah.
And then, yeah, it just it makes it just, Well, I absolutely love your ice cream.
I'm sold on these two.
They're really good.
And I know Christine, my wife would absolutely love these, especially with Coke Zero.
Yeah.
thats her thing.
So we also have a wide variety of sugar free syrups as well.
Yeah.
Which is always good.
And you can do to kind of, you know, sugar out as well.
So I know you've got a lot going on here.
What are your opening hours during the week?
So we are open every day 12 to 9 p.m.. Yeah.
Sundays we actually open at one.
Okay, perfect.
And then there's that.
Go all the way into fall and it goes into fall.
And then the winter, we shorten our hours.
We open it to when we closed at eight.
And for people watching as well, like you're out here just off 23.
Right.
23 and for state Road 23 and for right next to Ginger Valley Garden Center.
Okay.
So right at the corner there, we're tucked back cute little pink building.
Once you find us, you'll be like, oh, there's where they are.
Makes sense.
Yes.
Well, thanks for having us here.
Good luck with your, dirty sodas.
Thank you.
Yeah.
All the way from Salt Lake City to, to Granger, Indiana.
There we go.
And, thanks for having us.
Thanks for coming out.
Thanks.
