Today we are exploring Lone Mountain Park and as a bonus, so excited about this!
I am meeting up with two of my favorite people.
I made my way to one of the many playground areas to meet Amber Renee Dixon and her adorable son, Otto, and was not only my talented coworker, she is also a dear friend.
Amber is not only the host of Nevada Week in Nevada Week in person, she is also an amazing m.. And look who it is.
It's Amber and Otto Unger.
Hi.
I'm like a little kid.
My inner child is coming out.
All around my new high five.
High five.
He's like, I'm swinging.
I'm like, oh, you don't know me.
Oh my God, my heart is so happy.
This is amazing.
Yeah.
I'm so glad you can join us for tales .. How are you?
All right.
I know who he is.
But tell us a little bit about this adorable, precious little guy.
All right, well, this is Otto.
He is two years old and a few months.
Loves the playground.
Loves the outdoors.
Let's talk about how often do you get out to the park?
I would say at least once a week.
Because it's essential for his energy to get out.
And yeah, he sees the dogs over there.
The dogs.
Right.
How about we go on a hike?
Let's get to it.
You want to go hike?
We talk a lot about getting out and hiking, bu.. So I wanted to get an take on exploring trails with Otto.
We made our way to the Lone Mountain Loop Trail.
This is about a two mile hike when you are not doing the summit.
It is a well-maintained level trail, perfect for you hikers and little ones.
When you're hiking with that two year old, it's always an adventure, right?
And it's you don't know what to expect, and you try to find a trail that's not too long.
That gives you options like this one.
And you go with the flow.
Whatever they're feeling, you go with the flow and let them.
Also, if they want to go explore, let them explore, or just you always have to be careful.
Of course, with the toddler, keep them close enough because you know they .. They put things in their mouths.
Watch out for spiky plants.
Yeah, you're following them closely.
And always pack those essentials, right?
One of them being, of course, hand sanitizer.
What else do you bring?
Hand sanitizer.
Diapers, wipes.
You got to bring everything pretty much just because you never know what they're going to want.
Got to keep them hydrated.
So a lot of water and then plenty of snacks just.. that energy and mood up.
He played at the playground.
We got a little hike in right here.
And now you want to go home and go to sleep?
I'm sleepy.
He's sleepy.
Oh, look at that.
Oh, look at his sweet little face.
Here, give me a kiss on.
Oh, seal.
All right.
Thank you.
Lo.. But I love you.
Bye.
Even though auto was done for the day, I was not.
Next up, I was headed to the summit of Lone Mountain.
This is one of my favorite hikes.
I've done it several times.
My favorite time to do it is at sunrise.
It is so magical.
The hike is not easy.
I would consider it moderate for sure.
Some people might even consider it difficult.
The right kind of footwear is very important.
You want to have something with good support and durable.
This is a continuous climb.
It levels out briefly before starting right up again.
All right, guys.. The adventure continues.
But what if.
This trail is not like the trail below.
This is constant maneuvering over and around a variety of rocks.
There are also quite a few.
Trek.
Wally's.
The eating, I have to say, must be good up .. are some big lizards.
The closer you get to the key, the wider the view.
You can see the entire valley.
It is breathtaking.
The hike is also literally breathtaking as well.
It is a workout for sure.
They did it well.
.. There are fantastic community resorts where so many great things.
Until next time, I'm Maria Silva and this is tales from the trails.
You soon.
