State officials say this is the largest forest fire in New Jersey since 2019
Firefighters in South Jersey are battling a massive wildfire that broke out Sunday in Wharton State Forest. As of Monday afternoon, the blaze had spread to 72,000 acres throughout Washington, Shamong, Mullica and Hammonton townships. Officials say the fire is about 45% contained. The New Jersey Forest Fire Service is still investigating the cause.
