Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorshipWe are seeing a dangerous rise in anti-Semitism and hate crimes, not just here in Pennsylvania, but all across the country.
The most recent data shows that hate crimes have risen to their highest levels on record, and anti-Semitic attacks make up nearly 60% of all religious based hate crimes.
We cannot allow this to continue.
Every Pennsylvanian has the right to be safe and feel safe, no matter their faith.
We must work together to guarantee that Pennsylvania is a place where everyone can live, work and worship with freedom and dignity, and without fear.
In the spirit that William Penn laid out in his vision for our commonwealth, I believe everyone has a power to take a stand against hate.
We all share the responsibility to confront bigotry head on and to spread understanding and tolerance.
I know that Pennsylvanians are stepping up to that call every single day.
I've met these good people all across our commonwealth.
I've seen firsthand the power we hold when we come together to reject hate.
The power to make the places we live in stronger and more welcoming for all.
Even in 2018, when the deadliest act of anti-Semitic violence in our nation's history occurred at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, people of every faith and every creed came together to lift one another up and to stand up to hate.
We made it clear that it has no home here in Pennsylvania.
We've also made it clear that we have more work to do.
I know that Pennsylvanians are committed to building communities that respect all people for who you are, no matter what you look like, where you come from, who you love, or who you pray to, or choose not to pray to.
Pennsylvania stands with you in your mission.
We are committed to combating anti-Semitism and hate with every tool we have.
