New York is one of a handful of states that have banned compensation for gestational surrogacy. At a time with this type of assisted reproductive technology is becoming increasingly popular throughout the country, state lawmakers have once more defeated a bid to legalize it. And the push to stop the passage was supported by some very unlikely allies.
