New Jersey tenants are facing an eviction cliff come Jan. 1; that’s when a moratorium will expire for low-income residents who did not pay rent during the pandemic. Renters are not automatically protected from eviction – they must take action before a deadline next week. Dean Dafis, who oversees eviction prevention efforts at the state Department of Community Affairs, explains.
