Mathematician Joan Ogden shares her contribution to the Apollo Program.
What did the U.S. Navy have to do with the Apollo Program? Joan Ogden, a former contracted GS-7 mathematician in the Ships' Engineering section under the Department of the Navy, was stationed at Pt. Mugu, Pacific Missile Range, during the summers of 1966 and 1967. The goal: To keep track of U.S. spacecraft using a network of telemetry dishes stationed on Naval ships around the globe.
