Huggy Pepper is heading out on a camping trip and asked to borrow a few things.
I'm checking my boxes to see what I have.
(Huggy murmuring) Hmm, I don't think I have a portable ice maker.
(Huggy murmuring) Oh, I definitely have a flashlight.
It's over by my cozy chair.
Let's do our quick daily elevator check.
Ready, Tibitz?
- [Tibitz] Always and forever, Albie.
- Elevator buttons, ready?
- [Tibitz] Elevator buttons are colorful, shiny, and activated, ready.
- Yodels, ready?
(Tibitz yodeling) - [Tibitz] I'm still practicing.
- Pep talk, ready?
- [Tibitz] Pep talk.

- Ooh, anything, amazing!

(characters chuckling) Ooh, I almost forgot about my box.
I'm not sure what I even have in here.
Maybe there is a portable ice maker for Huggy, let's see.
(upbeat music) (items rustling) Hmm, huh, okay.
A mushroom, (exhales), good vintage, make some soup later.
Oh, wow, some really good stuff in here!
I forgot about that.
Huh, a Muscle Man!
Still in good shape.
One, two, one, two.
(Albie gasping) My mittens, (squeals).
(toys clanging) My mittens, oh, I can't believe it's my mittens.
Oh, you beautiful, wonderful, most mitten-y mittens!
(Albie chuckling) (button dinging) - Hey, Albie, nice mittens.
- Oh, Jay, I'd like to introduce you to the most incredible, most cozy, most everything of all time in the history of the world and beyond, into space, into the ocean, and forever and ever and ever and ever and ever!
(Albie gasping) The best mittens I have ever had.
- Whoa, those sound like some very impressive mittens.
Mittens, it's a pleasure to meet you.
Well, I'll leave you and your mittens to play.
I'm just heading up to fix a squeaky door on 21.
- Oh, floor 21?
You got it.
Let me just put on my official mittens.
They make button-pressing much more special.
Oh, would you help me put them on?
- Sure, let me give you a hand.
(chuckles) Okay, yeah.
(quirky music) Oh, (grunts).
- Let me just make my hands a little more scrunched up.
- Okay, yeah, yeah (laughs).
we got it.
(Jay and Albie groaning) I'll just see if I can get these mittens to be a little more stretchy.
(mittens squeaking) (Jay groaning) - You know, maybe if I just think tiny thoughts, ants, beads.
- Just one more squeeze and... (Jay and Albie groaning) (Jay and Albie screaming) (bright music) (Jay gasping) Is that how you always wear your mittens?
- Well, well, normally, I wear them over my whole hand but maybe being in the box shrunk them?
- Or maybe you just got bigger.
- Bigger?
- Yeah, like your body grew since the last time you wore the mittens.
- Maybe, but now what, Jay?
Do you know of any local shrink machines that can make my hands tiny like baby hands so they fit again?
- It might be time to find a new pair of mittens.
(suspenseful music) - And replace my favorite pair?
Jay, how dare you!
- Nothing against these mittens.
These are great mittens.
It's just that sometimes our bodies grow and we don't fit into things anymore like all of my pants.
I'm sorry, Albie.
It is a bummer.
- A big time bummer.
- Oh, maybe a trip to visit a friend might help.
- Does the friend have a secret recipe for a type of fritter that when you take a bite, it makes your old mittens fit?
- I don't think that kind of fritter exists.
They might have a different idea though.
Albie, could you press that button for me?
- You got it.
(button whirring) - [Tibitz] Stalling mode activated, Albie!
(upbeat music) - [Loretta] Location, locked on.
(upbeat music) - [Tibitz] All the (indistinct) dwelling zones, designated.
- [Duo] Zones, zones!
(upbeat music) - [Tibitz] We have arrived.
(button dinging) - Hi, Jay.
- Hey, Aimee, this is my friend, Albie and she's got a favorite pair of mittens.
- But they don't fit my hands anymore.
Jay said you might have a shrink ray or a magic fritter.
- I never said that!
- Hmm, I don't have either of those things but I can show you what I do with some of my old things.
- Okay!
- I'm an artist and sometimes, I make work out of my old things and turn them into something new.
It's a good way for me to remember how much something meant to me.
- What kind of art do you make with them?
- All kinds of different things.
Come on, let me show you.
(mellow music) This guy here is part of my insider series, and they are stuffed animals that have been re-stuffed.
And a fun story about this guy, I found him on my walk to the studio.
Somebody had put him outside in the trash and I saw the potential and the treasure of him to be turned into something new.
- So cute, so cuddly!
- This is part of my rubber series, which is a collection of baby objects that have been frozen into these frames.
These were my kids when they were little, so now I get to look at them and remember that time when they were so little.
But now, they're so big!
This here is a ball made out of rope, that's all been made out of my children's discarded baby clothes and it's really heavy.
(Aimee groaning) Today, I'm here with my son, Max.
- Hi, Albie.
- And my daughter, Maya.
- Hi, Albi.
- Let's see what we can make out of our old things.
We're gonna see if we can make some more rope and add to this giant rope ball.
What do you guys think?
- Yeah.
- Yeah.
- Let's do it.
Okay, Maya, I'm gonna keep cutting this apart and then right where I cut it, let's see if you can rip it into strips, okay?
So tear it, (fabric hissing) there you go.
Tear it all the way down.
That's great!
That's a nice long strip.
All right, let me get a couple strips of Max's clothes and then, we can start attaching them together into some new rope.
All right, so I'll make the cut and then... Whoa, this is gonna be a big piece.
Okay, you pull that through.
Pull, pull, pull, pull, great job, wow!
It's getting even longer.
Oh, hello.
I think we finished our rope.
- Wow, look how long we made it.
- Wow, this is gonna be perfect.
Okay, let's add it to the ball, you ready?
- Yes.
- Okay.
Whoa, it's getting so heavy, isn't it?
- [Maya] Yes.
(mellow music) - Yes!
Great job!
We made our old clothes into something new.
- That's so neat!
- Thanks for sharing.
- Hey Albie, why don't you take this yarn?
(mellow music) - Whoa, thanks, Aimee.
- [Family] Bye, Albie, bye, Jay.
(bright music) - Jay, do you think we could turn my mitten into something new?
- Of course, what did you have in mind?
- I'm thinking I'd like to make a mitten man who is cute and mitten-shaped and good for hugs.
- Oh, you could name him Ed the Red.
- Ed the Red with an extra cute head!
First, I'll stuff it with some packing peanuts.
- Great idea, Albie.
Much better than regular peanuts.
(mellow music) - Jay, could you help sew up the bottom?
- Of course.
Hey, Albie, what do you like best about your mitten?
- Well, I like how bright they are and I like that they're so super soft.
- When did you get them?
- Ooh, Rosie gave them to me when I was little and that makes them special too.
I think of her when I wear them.
- Do you have any special memories wearing the mittens?
- Oh, yeah!
One time, Zia brought me an ice cream cone and it was so cold that I had to wear the mittens just so that I can hold it and eat it.
- That's a great memory.
There, the bottom's all sewn up.
- Perfect.
Oh, let's use two little buttons for eyes.
- [Jay] Okay.
- And draw on a little mouth.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, and... - [Jay] It's Ed!
- [Narrator] Ed.
- Looking good, Ed.
I may not be able to wear you around anymore, but at least I can still play with you.
- Now, what about the other mitten?
- Hmm, I guess I can make another friend.
- Fred, Ned, Ted, Antonio?
(guitar strumming) - Talking about all the good times I had with my mittens and remembering how they kept me warm, (gasps), I bet someone else would really like one too.
- Hi, I'm Jay and a Capricorn.
What's your sign?
Oh.
- [Narrator] Ed.
- Hey, Huggy, is it cold where you're going?
(Huggy murmuring) Well, I thought maybe you could take this.
It's a mitten I wore when I was smaller but I think it might be a perfect hat for you.
(Huggy murmuring) Just for you.
It always reminded me of Rosie because she was the one who gave it to me.
But maybe, it can remind you of me.
(Huggy murmuring) (mellow jazz music) - I think red is actually a very good color for you.
It's giving me ketchup.
It's giving me roses.
It's giving me stop sign- - Ready to head to floor 21, Jay?
- I'm ready if you are, Albie.
- Of course, to the 21st floor, Tibitz!
- [Tibitz] Going up!
- Good night, Ed.
Dream sweet, mitten-y dreams.
What do mittens even dream about?
(gasps) Maybe kittens or their cousins, gloves and socks!
I'm glad Jay helped me turn my old mitten into something new.
I was so upset that I couldn't wear them anymore but now, I get to keep my mitten and my mitten memories close, even if it doesn't fit my hands.
It's even better that Huggy gets to wear the other one as a hat.
It feels good to give something to a friend.
Have you ever outgrown something you really, really loved?
Did you turn it into something new or give it away to a smaller kid?
(button dinging) That sound means another friend needs a ride in the elevator.

Now, it's time for (yawns), a nap.
No, it's time for Albie's awesome rock 'n' roll marathon.
It's time to rock (hums).
(elevator dinging) - Your wood frog player has arrived.
(wood creaking) I just did some breathing exercises, so I'm feeling super energized and ready to rock.
(Huggy murmuring) (Albie squealing) - It's time for Albie's awesome, no breaks, rock 'n' roll marathon!

(upbeat music) ♪ Rock 'n' roll ♪ ♪ Rock 'n' roll ♪ ♪ One time at the beach, I dug a hole ♪ ♪ There was a crab and I got scared ♪ ♪ But then I didn't see him anywhere ♪ (audience cheering) (Albie yawning) Thank you, thank you, I love my fans, (yawns).
- Albie, are you yawning?
- No, rock stars don't yawn, (yawns).
(squeals) Play the track, Huggy.
Five, six, seven, eight.
♪ Rock 'n' roll ♪ ♪ Rock 'n' roll ♪ ♪ When I see marshmallows, I lose control ♪ (Albie groaning) Why am I yawning, stop the music, stop the music!
- Is everything okay, Albie?
- No, the music was like (exhales), and then my singing was like, (groans).
No more music, no more music, no more music.
- Albie, Albie, Albie.
(Albie hyperventilating) Come on, deep breath in (inhales), and out.
(Albie groaning) What's up?
- I'm feeling (yawns), tired and grumpy.
- When I feel tired, I take a break.
I took a nap yesterday and had a dream about a hippo in a baseball hat.
He said, "Good napping, Zia, keep going."
- [Tibitz] Even robots take breaks.
A happy nappy makes me a happy chappy.
- Thanks, Tibitz.
What's that, Ribbits?

(Ribbits croaking) - But I don't wanna stop rocking and rolling.
I'll miss all the fun if I take a break.
- Are you really having fun or are you?
- Tired and grumpy?
- When I take a break, I feel a lot better afterwards.

We were just having an awesome rock 'n' roll marathon.
- Now I'm tired, but I don't wanna stop playing.
No breaks!
- Hold up, no breaks?
I love breaks.
- Yeah.
- Love taking breaks.
- You like breaks?
- Yes, taking breaks helps us feel full of energy and ready to play songs.
- You gotta have a break.
- But taking breaks isn't as fun as playing.
- If we didn't take breaks, we wouldn't have fun or sound as good, like this.
(upbeat jazz music) (off-key music) You could hear it in the music.
We're tired and need to take a break.
- I like to take deep breaths when I take a break (inhales).
- I like to have a nice, cool, refreshing drink of water when I take a break.
- I like to do a big stretch when I take a break (grunts).
- There are lots of ways to take a break when you need it, getting some fresh air, sitting down on a comfy couch, taking a nap.
- I feel so much better after I take a nap.
- It's no fun to play when you're tired but when you've taken a break, three, four, (upbeat music) you sound as good as you feel.
- Wow!

Wow, they were a real band and they liked taking breaks.
- So how are you feeling, Albie?

I want to take a break.
- All right, Albie, I'm gonna take a break too.
Maybe I'll run some errands.
Maybe I'll take a nap, who knows?
- We can rock 'n' roll even better after.
- Hands in.
- Oh, yeah.

(upbeat music) - Take a break.
Playing was so much fun, I didn't wanna take a break.
But I think, (yawns), I think a nap sounds really, really good, (snores).
(harp music) - Good napping, Albie, keep going.
You're gonna feel so much better after this nap.
And your rock 'n' roll marathon is going to be even more awesome.
(Huggy Pepper murmuring) (laughs) Yes, Huggy Pepper, dream world is amazing, wee!
- Huh?
Oh, I was dreaming.
I took a nap and I feel so much better.

Today, I learned a lesson.
I was tired, I was grouchy, and you know what I needed?
I needed to take a break.
That's right, that's right.
So you know what I just did?
Do you know what I just did?
(crowd screaming) I took nap.
That's right.
I went and I napped and now I'm ready to run, yeah!
We have a very special song for you today with a surprise guest who helped me understand that taking breaks was a good thing.
