- Play with us.
- He says, "No, work and play don't mix."
So after we read a story, we reenact it with a puppet show.
We use whatever props we have around the house and we color pictures to make a backdrop.
Then we bring the family outside for showtime.
Dun, dun, dunnnn My son loves to act out the story.
He remembers the sequence of events which helps him better understand what we read.
Sequencing also helps with problem solving.
That's a skill he can use for a lot of subjects including reading, and he's learning the elements of a story like the beginning, middle and end.
Puppet shows are a fun way to keep reading center stage for my kids.
