A fatal shooting in Louisville has shaken family scholar House.

The housing complex is for single parents pursuing a college degree.

As Our June Lefler reports, two young mothers lost their lives.

Family scholar House has helped single parents with housing, child care and guidance as they pursue higher education for the first time in nearly two decades.

Violence struck the campus early Sunday morning.

220 year old women in the program were shot and pronounced dead at the housing complex near the University of Louisville.

CRB reports one lived there while the other received other supports.

Family scholar House says one participant was studying nursing and the other forensic science.

Both had one child.

A statement from Family Scholar House reads, quote, single parents come to family scholar house because they want a better life for themselves and their families.

They come with dreams and goals and with the support of our team and our educational partners, they work hard to achieve them.

Today's tragedy is a heartbreaking reminder of the lives and futures represented by every family we serve.

It also reminds us why Family Scholar House is so committed to helping student parents break the cycle of poverty and homelessness, create new cycles of success, and instill the value of education in their children.

End quote.
