I'm gonna start asking some questions.
Hey, Jim, got a question for ya.
- Okay.
- What is one of the best things you've ever received in the mail?
- Well, you know I have ordered guitars online before and then of course they have to send them to you.
And it's really kinda hard to beat getting a box with a guitar in the mail delivered to you.
So, I'd have to say probably a guitar.
- That makes perfect sense!
Whoa ho man, I love it Jim.
Do you, any favorite color, that was like the most exciting one to open up when you opened the box?
- Um, no, it's, again it's kinda hard to not have one and you know I have many colors.
So, any time you get a new addition, you go, "Ah, that's a color I don't have."
It's a good day.
(laughter) - Ah, love it!

What's the best thing, or one of the best things you've received in the mail?
- One of the best things that I've received in the mail is a giant stuffed shark.
- Whoa!
How big is giant?
Like, like?
- I can go show it to you.
- (gasp) Oh that'd be so cool.
Oh man, I'm gonna anticipate.
I'm gonna think it's 2 foot, no maybe one, two, three?
Whoa!
That is giant.
Is that as tall as you if you stood it from tail to top?
- It used to be, but now I'm just a (laughter) - That's true.
That's a good point.
It used to be, but you're growing and now the shark is, eventually, the shark's gonna feel a lot smaller than when you first remembered.
(laughter) Cailynn, thanks for sharing that.

Friends, it's time for today's "One, Two, Three Sentence Story!"
Let's write a story friends in three sentences.
In the first sentence we set the scene.
In the second sentence there is a problem.
(weeping) But do not fret.
In the third sentence there is a solution.
Ah ha.
Let's get rolling.
Share with us a person, place, or thing.
Hmm, I'm gonna go to my friend, Story for the first word.
Story, what first word, any word at all, should I use to start the story?
- Orange.
- Whoa ho ah, orange.
Got it.
Thanks Story.
All right, Orange.
Here we go.
(clears throat) I was making a fruit salad for lunch and I was chopping up the orange as I looked for the rest of the fruit.
Ho ha.
That's kind of a long sentence.
I might want to revise that a bit, but I like it.
I'm revising and my mind is a go, but it's all about making a fruit salad.
I'm slicing up the oranges.
Ah ha.
Ooh.
Maybe I mail the recipe to somebody.
Ha ha.
Love it.
Okay.
Friends, share with us what is another possibility?
A person, place, or thing?
There's gonna be a problem.
No.
Cailynn, I'm gonna go to you.
What word, any word at all, are you thinking of that could inspire the problem?
- Um, probably a shark.
- Oh a shark, ah ha ha.
Just like the cool shark you got in the mail.
Okay, here we go.
(clears throat) I was cutting up oranges as I was working on making some fruit salad for lunch.
The door bell rang and a shark had been delivered and began to eat all of the oranges.
No!
(laughter) A toy shark, a stuffed animal shark, started to eat all of the oranges.
No!
Who sent this shark?
I gotta check the card later.
I'll send a thank you note.
Unless, the shark does eat all my lunch.
Then it's kind of a different scenario there.
But, how do we solve the problem?
The problem is not enough, uh not enough stuff for lunch.
The shark, ooh, a lion.
Addie, thanks for the idea.
Lion.
Okay.
Ooh ooh.
I got the solution.
Here we go.
(clears throat) I was chopping up oranges, making some fruit salad, as I was making my lunch.
The doorbell rang and a shark was delivered and suddenly it started to eat all of the oranges.
Fortunately, I had a lion delivered last week and the lion immediately started cutting up bananas to make up for the lost oranges.
(laughter) A stuffed shark.
A toy lion.
Oh man.
The lunch day saga.
What do we call this story?
Uh, lunch, I'll keep working on it.

- I know it's almost as big as the shark.

- Hmm.
I've been, how about um, oh it depends on the book.
Some books might, but what if it's a really.
No that could go either way.
A big envelope could fit a book right?
(gasp) - Cloud.
- A cloud.
- Fascinating.
- I like that.
No a cloud is an awesome idea.
- Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
- No it's good.
- Wouldn't a cloud evaporate into moisture though?
- I don't know.
Try to stick a cloud in an envelope and get back to me.
Let me know how that works out for you (indistinct).
- Yeah good.

- Okay.
(guitar strumming) All right, here we go.
I think we've got it now.

- Yeah.
- ♪ I was going to send you a fence ♪ ♪ To go along with this card ♪ I was gonna send you a tree ♪ But I haven't had any luck so far ♪ ♪ I was going to send you a balloon ♪ ♪ And no this is not a joke ♪ I was going to send you Joe ♪ But he wouldn't fit in the envelope ♪ ♪ I was going to send you a mountain ♪ ♪ To show you how much I care ♪ I was going to send you an elephant ♪ ♪ But I couldn't fit all that stuff in there ♪ ♪ Instead I took a picture ♪ Of all these things for you ♪ So you can see the joy they bring me ♪ ♪ And all the joy they'd bring for you ♪ ♪ I was going to send you a cloud ♪ ♪ And someday soon I hope I will ♪ ♪ I'll be able to send you all those things ♪ ♪ If I find the right envelope still ♪ There you go!

- I'd also put a bear in the envelope.

If I just had the room.

- I have an idea Jim.

- Hmm, but still, yeah, I guess a box.
I didn't think of that.
(laughter) - But no, but you start, it's, - If I have a big enough box, you're right.
I could get all those things in a box.
I was trying to get them all in an envelope.
And I guess there was my problem.
So I say I took a picture, thinking like oh, just put the picture in the envelope.
But you're right, a box probably would've worked better.
- But at the same.
- I'm gonna have to go back and rework the whole song now.
- No, no, no, no.
- No, you got me thinking.
- No, no, no.
I didn't mean that.
I just was thinking.
You know if it.
But sometimes you can, you just have to work within the parameters.
- No you're right.

- It's one of those things where it's just like, well yeah.

- It would need, but I don't know if they make boxes big enough for mountains and clouds and bears and fences.

How are you today?
I have a great book to share with you.
It's called, "The Lost Package A Lot Can Happen Between the Post Office and the Destination".
This book was written by Richard Ho and illustrated by Jessica Lanan.
And brought to us by Roaring Books Press.
This is such a cool book.
You know how we take a piece of mail or a package and we send it, and we don't really know what happens to it after.
We don't get to see it until it arrives at its destination, right?
Well, in this book, we get to follow the package from it being packaged and carefully sealed up and taken to the post office.
We get to see all the steps of it being delivered and what happens as it moves through the post office.
But, as the title tells us, "The Lost Package".
I love this book.
And you'll think a little bit differently the next time you go to mail something.

- Well, I watched some movies that were in black and white.
So, I was thinking, like mail.
So, my mom and my brother were the actors.
So, we turned it into an old-timey film.
Where there's little speech bubbles and.
- Yeah.
- It's black and white.
- That's so cool.
So years ago, right?
A long time ago that's how movies were.
Is that you would see stuff and you would read the information.
And so how did you decide what to write and what to show and kind of the balance between what we saw and what we read?
- Well, I was just sitting down with my mom and brother and we were just brainstorming stuff.
- I think it's so fun!
It was so cool.

- Well, I had a mouse, but I ate it.
(gasp) So that was my M, but I made this hat out of paper and there's a big M on it, which is a letter.
- It's got letters!

- Thank you.
(chuckles) - Oh Cailynn, what have you found?
- So, originally I was gonna do paper mache cause it has all three, but the one that I have is still kind of wet.
So, I have a marker here and I have a paper with words on it.
- Nice!

Marker starts with M. The paper, whoo!
Brody, what have you found?
- I found a sticky note, which is paper.
- Okay.
- There's words on it and there's a little monster, which starts with M. - It starts with M. Oh man.
Have you done something to challenge your brain today?
