Earth and its jacket mysteries.
Impossible to solve.
- What's this over here?
- [gasps] Oh, hey, my jacket.
Wow, thanks, Mom.

[beep] [door whooshes] - You're back.
- I am.
And I have two things to tell you.
One: my friends and I are going out to get Mother's Day presents.
- Oh, how sweet.
What's the other thing?
- The second thing is: Uh--oh, yeah, the second thing was I wasn't supposed to tell you the first thing.
[soft chuckle] - It's okay, Jet.
That's very sweet that you thought of Mother's Day.
- Back in a bit!
- Is there anything you're forgetting this time?
- Nope, got my jacket.

- Mom, good news: I still have my jacket.
Bad news: now my wallet is missing.
- Oh, think back to everywhere you've been between here and the front door.
- [grumbles] [jaunty piano music] ♪ ♪ Hmm, yep.
I have no idea where my wallet could be.
- Ahem.
- Oh, hey!
My wallet!
Now I can go get you a nice present for Mother's Day.
What would you like that costs less than 3 Earth dollars and leaves me some money to buy gum?
- Hey, here's an idea for a gift.
How about you keep track of all your own things for the whole day?
- What a great idea.
And I can still get gum.
- Sounds like a win-win, as the Earthies say.
- And I'll just get my robot, Jet 2, to follow me around and pick up everything I leave behind.
- Great.
- Just as soon as I remember where I left him.
Oh, let's see... [pensive music] - Hello.
Mars, remember?
[ding] - Hey, Mom, I remembered where Jet 2 is.
But do you think you could come with me to get him?
- I suppose so.
Where is he?
- I, uh, sort of left him on Mars last time we went there.
- Hmm, nothing like a Mother's Day on Mars.
- Wait, I thought we were just going to the mall to get Mother's Day gifts.
- ♪ Five, four, three, two, one ♪ ♪ Doors are shut engines on ♪ ♪ Everybody in their place ♪ ♪ Let's go into outer space!
♪ - ♪ Ready, Jet, go!
♪ - [screaming] [jet engines whirring] [exciting music] - Jet 2, here we come!
- Remember when we took Jet 2 up to Mars?
- Yeah, we were testing out those new Mars wheels for him and Boop.
- I wonder if they're both st ill wheeling around together.
[upbeat rock music] - Boy, Jet, sure is nice for your mom to take us all the way to Mars on Mother's Day.
- Ha, yeah, especially since she just wanted to relax and read her book all day.
- Oh.
- Well, since we're going to Mars, I'm gonna get my mother a present there.
You know how she collects rocks, right?
- Right.
Just like you.
- Yeah, she's the one who taught me.
Anyway, I'll take a picture of the one kind of rock my mom doesn't have in her rock collection: a Mars rock.
- I have my camera.
I can take pictures of you with the rock.
- [chitters] [camera shutter clicks] - Thanks, Mindy.
And then I'll make the picture into a cool-some Mother's Day card.
♪ ♪ [jet engines whirring] [suspenseful music] - [exhales] So... Where's Jet 2?
- And where's Boop?
- Hmm, I'm sure this is the spot where we left them.
- We've got to go look for 'em.
- Hey, Mom, why don't you go rest and read your book while we go look for Jet 2?
- Oh...
Thanks, Jet.
That's very thoughtful of you.
- I don't know where Jet 2 and Boop are, but I think I see where they were.
- Ooh, there are two sets of tire tracks.
Looks like they went off together.
- Aww, how sweet.
- Mmm.
We can follow these tracks and find them.
- Good plan, Mindy.
Let's go.
- Excelsior!
[jaunty piano music] - Boo-yah.
Lowered gravity.
- Whoa... [laughter] ♪ ♪ - Whoa--whoa... [grunts] Um, hey, keep your camera handy.
I've already found some great rocks.
What are you all looking at?
Did you guys find any more rocks?
- Shh.
- Oh, wow.
Found them.
- Let's be sneaky.
And I can take a picture of their game.
[playful suspense music] ♪ ♪ [camera shutter clicks] - [chitters] [camera shutter clicking] - [laughing] Jet 2!
We found you!
- What have you been doing up here on Mars all this time?
- Hello.
Yes.

Checkers.
- Wow, looks like you got pretty good at checkers while you were here.
[sighs] I've missed this robot guy.
And he learned a new word.
- Checkers.
- Let's get him back to the saucer.
- I'm ready!
Let's go, Jet 2!
- Ready, Jet, go!
- Okay, I set up the perfect rock arrangement.
Where's the camera?
- I gave it to Jet.
- Me?
- You were taking pictures of Boop and Jet 2, remember?
- [soft chuckle] Here's something funny.
I think I left the camera back at the checkers game.
- What?
- If we go back for it now, we'll miss all of Mother's Day.
- And what about my camera?
- Well, now we have another reason to come back to Mars again.
- [groans] - Here, Sean, want to draw a picture for your mom?
- I guess I could.
- Your mom will love it.
Mom's always love stuff their kids draw.
- That's true.
All right.
I'll give it a try.
- Hey, kids.
How'd it go?
- Well, we did find Jet 2.
- But we didn't get pictures.
- Oh, well, I'm sure your mom will love what you give her, just like I love Jet's gift.
- You do?
- Uh, but I didn't give you anything.
- I was able to finish my book.
So thanks.
- I guess there's nowhere as quiet as space.
[light music] ♪ ♪ - It's okay, Jet 2.
Don't be sad.
- Hello.
Yes.

Boop.
- I know you'll miss Boop, but she has important work to do on Mars.
- Yeah, she has to gather information for scientists on Earth, since they can't go to Mars yet.
- Okay.
Yes.
Science.
- That's the spirit!
We'll come back and see Boop again.
[rousing music] ♪ ♪ [jet engines whirring] [beeping] [all cheering] - Hello.
[mechanical crashing] - Hey, look, Mindy, it's your camera.
- [gasps] My camera!
All right!
[camera shutter clicks] - Whoa.
There's a rock here.
- Is that a Mars rock?
- Thank.
You.
- Cool!
Now you have an out-of-this-world Mother's Day present!
Oh, there it is.
My donut!
I wonder if it's still fresh.
[teeth clank] Nope, not at all.
- [gulps] - Okay, guys, I'm gonna go give this rock to my mom right now.
Hope she doesn't ask me where it's from.
Happy Mother's Day!
- Oh.
- This is for you, Mom.
- That's so sweet.
I love this rock.
I'm gonna keep it with my other very special things you've given me.
- You keep your rock collection here?
- Mm-hmm.
Always.
- How did you choose these rocks for your collection?
- Oh, well, all the rocks in my collection are special for different reasons.
Some were made by getting squished under the oceans, like this one, which is called "sandstone."
Uh, others were made by getting mushed up and broken way under the Earth's surface, like this one.
- Whoa.
That one's shiny and black.
- Uh-huh, it's called "obsidian."
- That is so cool!
When I grow up, I want to have a rock collection from all over the world, even from all over the solar system.
- Well, that would be really something.
I especially love this rock, Sean, because of where it's from.
- You can-- [stammers] you can tell?
- Yes.
It's from you.
- [exhales] Of course.
Who else would it be from?
[soft chuckle] - Yep.
It's the most special rock in my collection, 'cause it's the one you picked out for me for Mother's Day.
[wrench clicking] - [sighs] This programming thing is complicated.
First, we have to tell Jet 2 what a jacket is, then how to pick it up.
- Yeah, wouldn't it be easier for you to just pick up your own jacket?
- Well, sure, I could do that.
But look how much I'm helping science this way.
Jet 2, find my jacket!
[upbeat music] ♪ ♪ Jet 2, sandwich!
♪ ♪ - [chomps] ♪ ♪ - Sunspot, Jet 2.

♪ ♪ - [chitters] - Hello.
Yes.
Sunspot.
- [chitters] - [laughs] I think we've got it.
Let's go show my mom!
Hiya, Mom!
Jet 2 is here, so I don't need you to find anything for me anymore.
- Oh, that's wonderful.
Hold on.
Where's your jacket?
- Jet 2, my jacket, please?
♪ ♪ [exhales] Happy Mother's Day!
- Oh, Jet, thank you.
- Mother's.
Day.
Happy.
- Ah!
And you too, Jet 2.
I'm the luckiest mom in the solar system and beyond.
- [laughs] both: Excelsior!
- [kisses] [mellow music] - [chitters] - Hi, kids.
Lovely spring day, isn't it?
- Great day for flying kites.
- Or doing some spring cleaning, huh?
Yeah, see how shiny these are?
- Wait, are those actual springs?
- Like "boing boing"?
- [chitters] - [laughs] Of course.
That's what spring cleaning is all about.
I just have to figure out how to fit them back into the mattress.
What have I done here?
Uh, you want to help?
- Thanks, Mr.
Propulsion, but we told Jet we'd come over to fly kites.
- Yeah, we've each been building our own and waiting for the first breezy day.
both: See you later, Mr.
Propulsion.
- [grunts] See you later, girls!
[spring boings] Whoa!
- I can't wait to see everyone's best buddy kites.
Who wants to show theirs first?
- Well, you guys are my best buddies, but I drew someone I really look up to.
Ta-da!
- Ooh, Commander Cressida!
That's gonna be so cool up in the air.
- Yep.
Now we can all look up to her.
- That's such a good one.
Here's my best buddy kite.
- Aww, Mindy!
You drew Sunspot.
- Yep.
He's my best buddy.
- [chitters] - Let's see your kite, Sunspot.
- [chitters] - Aww, Sunspot!
[grunts] - My turn!
Who's my best buddy?
One, two, three!
- Your best buddy is... the Earth?
- You bet!
It's round.
It's got air and water and trees and pie.
Besides, if I hadn't landed here, I never would have met my other best buddies, you guys!
- Great idea, Jet!
I'm going to take pictures of all of us best buddies and our kites.
Okay, get in there, Sydney, Jet, Sunspot, and... Sean?
- Hey, yeah.
Where's Sean?
He's really late.
- He's probably still working on some super fancy kite.
- We better go get him before he misses out on the whole day.
- Aww, sorry, kids.
Sean has a cold.
He can't play outside today.
- A cold?
If he's cold, he can come outside, and the sun will warm him up.
- [laughs] Jet.
It's not that Sean is cold.
He has a cold.
He's sick.
And he needs to stay in his room and rest.
- Oh, no, Sean's going to miss kite flying day.
He won't even seen our kites.
- Maybe if we go into the yard, he can talk to us from his window.
- Great idea.
He can show you his kite from there.
- Thanks, Dr. Sean's Mom.
- [coughs] [boing] - [chitters] - Huh?
Sunspot?
That's weird.
I thought I saw Sunspot.
Did you, Neil Armstrong?
Hmm.
- [chitters] - What was that noise?
Huh?
- Can you jump even higher, Sunspot?
- [chittering] [chitters] - Sunspot.
It's you.
[coughs] Hey, it's all you guys.
- Hey, Sean!
We wanted to see your kite.
- And you, of course.
- And we're sorry you're sick and you can't fly kites with us today.
- Thanks, guys.

Hang on, I'll go get my kite.
[coughs] - Whoa.
That kite is amazing!
- That has got to be the best kite in the solar system!
- Thanks.
Looks like everyone in the solar system but me gets to have fun flying kites outside today.
- Aww, I'm sure not everyone is flying kites.
- [chittering] [chitters] [wind whooshing] - [groans] That didn't help.
[coughs] You guys go fly your kites.
At least you can go have fun.
Come tell me about it later.
- Oh, okay.

- Feel better!
Try to have fun anyway.
- [sighs] Well, Commander Armstrong.
I guess it's just you and me today.
I can't think of anything fun to do.

[knocking on door] Can you get that, Neil?

- [chitters] - Mm-hmm, your little pet friend came to see you.
He won't catch your cold, so he can keep you company in here.
- Thanks, Mom.
I'm glad you came by, Sunspot.
But there's nothing fun to do here in my room.
- [chitters] - Thanks, but I'm not in the mood for checkers right now.
- [chitters] - Thanks, but I've read that big book.

[books thudding] [sighs] See?
There's just nothing fun to do.
- [chitters] - Yeah, building that kite was fun.
I do like designing and building things.
- [chitters] [upbeat music] - What are you doing with these things?
- [chitters] - [coughs] You want to build something?
That could be fun.
What would we build?
- [chitters] - [laughs] I don't know if we can make that.
But wait.
Being stuck in here all day gives me an idea.
What if we build a machine that helps people have fun when they're sick?
- [chitters] - Don't worry, Neil Armstrong.
You can help too.
Neil likes to keep busy.
We could use this to make a checkers-playing machine.
How would we make the arm work though?
- [chitters] - I get it.
We can use those things to make a pulley.
That's a kind of simple machine that helps us lift things.
Let's get to work.
[upbeat music] ♪ ♪ Yeah!
Let's test it out.
[suspenseful music] [string stretching] It works!
[clank] [laughs] Maybe it works a little too well.
Hey, this is fun.
Come on, Sunspot.
Come on, Neil Armstrong.
Let's build something else.
What about a machine that brings books to bed?
- [chitters] - I bet all our friends are having the best day ever flying their kites, but being stuck in here with you has been one of my best days too, Sunspot.
- [chitters] [wind whooshing] - Careful, guys.
These kites are flying too close together.
- [laughs] Oh, we'll be fine.
Unless the wind kicks up.
[wind whooshes] - I think the wind picked up.
both: Aww!
[playful music] ♪ ♪ - The kites went into that tree.
- Well, maybe it's not that bad.
They'll probably blow right down.
[wind whooshes] - Or not.
- [soft chuckle] [groans] A kite-eating tree.
Rats.
♪ ♪ [suspenseful music] - Ready, Sunspot?
[rousing music] - [chitters] - We'll use this roller skate to load a book, then send it down the ramp for... Book-to-bed delivery.
Ta-da!
[coughs] [fanfare] - [chitters] [all grunting] - Do you think we got those kites loosened up?
- [grunts] I don't know.
But that was our last ball.
- [chitters] - Hey, Floyd.
Would you mind?
Thanks!
Have an acorn!
- [chitters] - Always carry fresh acorns.
You never know when you might need them.
- Maybe we should go see how Sean's doing.
- Yeah, he's missing out on all the kite fun.
- Or kite watching.
- Hi, honey.
I thought you might be getting bored in here-- [soft laugh] What?
You made a pulley.
- [chitters] - That's useful.
- Yep, we can use it to play checkers.
We also made a book-delivery machine.
Watch.
- Wow!
[both laugh] - [chitters] - Wow, both the wheels and the ramp are two kinds of simple machines, and I like how you combined them to solve a problem.
- I did, didn't I?
- [chitters] - Yep, and most importantly, you managed to have fun even when you were stuck in your room.
Now that is something to be proud of.
- Thanks, Mom.
- Sean!
- We just came to see how you're feeling.
- Much better, thanks.
I've been having fun with Sunspot, building machines.
- [chitters] - Hey.
Where are your kites?
- They're all stuck in a tree.
- Yeah, we're kind of taking a little break from our kites.
We were wondering, can we fly your kite?
- Actually, maybe we can all fly it together.
- How?
You're stuck in your room.
And we're out here.
- Exactly.
I've got an idea.
Sunspot.
- [chitters] [tools whirring] - Okay.
Start running with the kite.
[rope stretches] - [chitters] [gears screeching] [chitters] [upbeat music] - [laughs] Wow!
You made the coolest thing of all!
A kite and a machine to launch it.
- Maybe you should design a machine to help get kites out of trees.
- Wait a minute, are those our kites?
all: Whoa!
- Well, that squirrel really knows how to have fun.
- Yep.
I guess having fun is about what you can do with what you have.
