Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorship>> YOU KNOW THAT MONDAY IS Dr.
MARTIN LIEU THERE ARE KING GUY AND THERE ARE EVENT PLANNED ALL OVER THE REGION.
THE BIGGEST ONE IS AT THE SABATHANI CENTER IN MINNEAPOLIS.
ALSO AN ACAPELLA GROUP, IF FINEE AND WE'LL HEAR FROM THEM LATER ON, AS WELL.
Dr., YOU ARE THE CEO OF KINGDOM OIL.
>> COO.
>> WHAT IS THAT?
>> KINGDOM OF OIL IS A MINISTRY AND PUBLIC CHARITY THAT'S BASED IN THE TWIN CITIES THAT SEEKS TO ENHANCE THE ABILITY OF LOCAL MINISTRIES AND PEOPLE WHO CARE FOR COMMUNITY TO TO AFFECT THE COMMUNITY.
>> Cathy: SPEAKING OF COMMUNITY, WHAT WILL BE YOUR MESSAGE ON MONDAY TO FOLKS WHO COME TO THE SABATHANI CENTER?
>> I WOULD THINK 35 YEARS AFTER, AT LEAST 35 YEARS AFTER Dr.
KING'S WONDERFUL WORK, WE REALLY WANT TO MAKE HIS VISION RELEVANT FOR OUR COMMUNITY, FOR THE TWIN CITIES SPECIFICALLY, AND WE THINK THAT WE HAVE A MESSAGE THAT WILL BE EMPOWERING AND ENCOURAGING AS IT RELATES TOLY LEASING PEOPLE TO MAKE -- TO RELEASING PEOPLE TO MAKE THE BEAUTIFUL COMMUNITY THAT Dr.
KING PREACHED ABOUT AND DREAMED ABOUT.
>> Cathy: WHERE ARE WE RIGHT NOW, WHEN WE TALK ABOUT EQUALITY AND CIVIL RIGHTS AS WE LOOK BACK AT WHAT Dr.
KING WAS TRYING TO DO?
>> NO DOUBT, THAT IN MY HEART, THIS IS THE MOST SIGNIFICANT ISSUE FACING OUR COMMUNITY AS A WHOLE.
SOME OF US HAVE MADE IT TO CERTAIN PLACES AND WE FEEL PRETTY GOOD BUT FOR THE MOST PART, OUR RESOURCES HAVE BEEN LOST AND THEN WE'RE NOT CAPITALIZING ON THE HUMAN RESOURCES, BECAUSE OF THE DISENFRANCHISEMENTS OF SO MANY TALENTED PEOPLE.
WE WANT PEOPLE TO BE EMPOWERED AND WE WANT PEOPLE TO BE RELEASED SO THAT TOGETHER KICK BUILD THAT BEAUTIFUL COMMUNITY.
>> Cathy: HOW DO YOU EMPOWER THE AFRICAN-AMERICAN HERE IN MINNEAPOLIS AND St.
PAUL AND THROUGHOUT THE REGION TO TAKE THAT MESSAGE AND GO WITH IT?
>> WE BELIEVE THAT THE COMMUNITY IS EMPOWERED.
THE REALITY IS THAT PEOPLE DON'T RECOGNIZE THE POWER AND THEY DEVALUE THE POWER AND DISCOUNT THE POWER.
WE WANT TO LIFT UP AND ENCOURAGE THE PEOPLE TO BELIEVE IN THEMSELVES AND BELIEVE ALSO IN THOSE WHO ARE NOT LIKE THEM, WHO MAY BE FROM A DIFFERENT CULTURE, DIFFERENT ETHNIC GROUP, DIFFERENT SIDE OF TOWN BUT TOGETHER WE CAN DO A GOOD THING BETTER.
>> Cathy: GOOD MESSAGE.
NOW, BIG EVENT, STARTS AT THE SABATHANI CENTER HERE AT WHAT TIME?
>> 2:00.
>> Cathy: ALL DIFFERENT KINDS OF THINGS HAPPENING.
>> ABSOLUTELY.
IT WILL BE WONDERFUL.
>> Cathy: PART OF THE FESTIVITIES IS FINESSE.
>> BIG TIME.
>> Cathy: BIG TIME.
YOU GUYS ARE GREAT.
ARE YOU GOING TO BE PERFORMING?
>> YES.
>> Cathy: LET'S HEAR SOMETHING FROM FINESSE.
THANK YOU, DOCTOR.
>> LET'S DO THAT.
YOU'RE WELCOME.
