- Hi everybody.
We are multiplying with five today in the Math Park.
(bell ring) - [Narrator] Get ready for a very special, super-duper math class.
We're going on a field trip where learning math is tons of fun.
Our destination is, the Math Park with our friends, Ranger Rith, Ashley, Charles, Mike, Janet, Kiffen, and Math Dylan.
(crowd cheers) (bright music) - Hello, Chipmunks.
Welcome to Math Park.
I'm Park Ranger A. Rithmetic.
But you can call me Ranger Rith.
Math Park is the place where frogs leap to conclusions and woodpeckers would if they could.
And math is always fun.
We're gonna have a grand time today.
So, let's get started.
- [Instructor] Flowers.
How many groups of flowers do you see?
Three.
And how many flowers are in each group?
Five?
We have three groups of five, three times five equals 15.
- We've already learned that one times five is five and two times five is 10 and 10 times five is 50.
So, now let's learn the new stuff.
- [Instructor] Three times five equals... Four times five equals... Five times five equals... Six times five equals...
Seven times five equals...
Eight times five equals... And nine times five equals... Can you answer the next multiplication problem you see before Betty Crock-Pot does.
- 35.
- Now here's the way Janet multiplies by five.
- I love multiplying by fives.
The way I learned it, when I was a kid was like this.
If I had to multiply either four times five or five times four, I simply held up four fingers and then I would multiply each finger by five.
So 5, 10, 15, 20, and then I would memorize them.
- [Instructor] How many groups of yellow dots do you see?
That's right.
Four groups.
How many yellow dots are in each group?
Five is correct.
We have four groups of five.
Now, how can we write that as a multiplication fact?
Four times five equals 20.
Very good.
Now the dots are moving around and changing groups.
How many groups do we have now?
If you said five, you're correct.
And how many dots are there in each group?
There are four dots in each group.
Five groups of four.
How do we write this as a multiplication fact?
Five times four equals 20.
Can you say the answer to the next multiplication fact you see before the lifeguard does?
- 40!
(bright music) (upbeat music) - [Narrator] From the fun factor satellite and outer space and a proud product studios in Hollywood.
You are watching the Multiplication Station.
- Hey, this is your Multiplication Station.
VJ Max the multiplier.

Check it out.
(bright music) (birds chirping) (bright music) (upbeat music) - You think you got it?
Are you ready for the Multiplication Station 'Quicky Quiz'?
Let's go get 'em.
- The Multiplication Station presents the 'Quicky Quiz'.
- [Cute voice] Wonderful!
- See if you can say the product before Charles does.
10 times five is... - 50 .
- Six times five is... - 30.
- Five times five is... - 25.
- 8 times five is... - 40 - One times five is... - Five.
- Four times five is... - 20.
- Seven times five is... - 35.
- 3 times five is... - 15.
- Nine times five is... - 45.
- Two times five is... - 10.
- How'd you do?
You know, if you missed some, you can go back and practice with the video again.
With a little practice, you'll become a multiplication sensation.
- [Narrator] It's time to play 'Multiplication Cover-up'.
Today, it's Janet versus Mike and they're multiplying by five.
- Wait, Mike, before we begin, can you explain the rules to me?
- Oh, sure.
Let's bring up the game board.
- Wow!
That's cool.
- Now, as you can see on the game board, all of these are products you get when you multiply by five.
Now to win the game, you have to get four in a row.
You can get four horizontally, vertically or diagonally.
- But how do I cover up a number?
- That's a good question.
As you can see, there's more than one 15.
If I said three times five equals 15, I use my remote to choose which 15 I want.
- Oh, got it.
Can I be green?
- Sure, I'll be red.
Okay.
You go ahead.
- Oh, thanks.
Okay, let's play.
Six times five equals 30.

- Oh!
Good job.
(cool music) - [Instructor] And now it's time for the Multiplication Wipeout!
If you learned the multiplying by five facts, you get to wipe them out.
Here we go.
Let's look at the three's multiplication table.
We get to wipeout any of the facts we already learned.
Let's wipeout five times three.
Here is the four's multiplication table.
Let's wipeout five times four.
Here are the sixes.
Let's wipeout five times six.
Here are the sevens wipeout five times seven.
Here are the eights wipeout five times eight.
And here are the nines wipeout five times nine.
Next time, we'll be multiplying by three.
It'll be great to wipe those out.
- Whoa, look at this three chocolate chip cookies, three chocolate chip cookies with 10 delicious melty chocolate chips in each.
I wonder how we could figure out how many chocolate chips there are all together?
I know we could count by tens or we could add 10 plus 10 plus 10, or we could use multiplication.
Three sets of 10 equals three times 10 equals 30, that's 30 chocolate chips.
Delicious!
(trumpet music) (baby cries loudly) - Did you hear that?
That means Map Park is closing for today.
Until my park reopens.
I salute you!
Math Chipmunks!
