(birds chirping) - Hey, today is our last show with multiplying.
And today we're multiplying by nine in the Math Park.
(bell ringing) (kids cheering) - [Narrator] Get ready for a very special, super duper math class.
We're going on a field trip where learning math is tons of fun.
Our destination is the Math Park with our friends Ranger Rith, Ashley, Charles, Mike, Janet, Kippin, and Math Dylan.
(kids cheering) (upbeat music) - Hello chipmunks, welcome to Math Park.
I'm Parker ranger, A. Rith Metic.
But you can call me Ranger Riff.
Math Park is the place where squirrels rent to own and dogs have month to month leashes.
And Math is always fun.
Hey, we're gonna have a grand time.
Today, we're gonna learn to multiply by the mysterious nine.
- [Kids] A nine.
- Multiplying by nine is going to be easy.
We've already learned so many of the facts when we've multiplied with nine.
We've learned that.
- [Narrator] 9x1 is nine and 1x9 is nine.
9x2 is 18 and 2x9 is 18.
9x3 is 27 and 3x9 is 27.
9x4 is 36 and 4x9 is 36.
9x5 is 45 and 5x9 is 45.
9x6 is 54 and 6x9 is 54.
9x7 is 63 and 7x9 is 63.
9x8 is 72 and 8x9 is 72.
9x10 is 90 and 10x9 is 90.
- So, we only have to learn one new fact to be multiplying by nine.
Do you know what it is?
9x9=81.
(kids cheering and clapping) - Hey Mike, do you want to play a game of multiplication cover-up?
- Sure.
That sounds great.
Let me raise the board.
Okay, yeah.
Okay, now let's listen to the rules.
- Yeah.
- [Narrator] The object of the game is to cover four squares in a row.
You can cover them horizontally, vertically, or diagonally.
To cover a product you must say the multiplication fact that goes with the product.
Punch the buttons on your remote control to cover the product you want.
- Well, if you don't mind, I'll be red.
- Okay.
I'll be green.
Why don't you start?
- Okay.
Great.

- I didn't even see it coming.
- I know, man.
- Nicely done.
- It was tough.
(piano music) - Howdy sidewinders, I'm Math Dylan.
And we're gonna have a little contest today to see who can multiply faster.
The way this works is you're gonna grab a pen and a paper.
And when that multiplication fact appears on the screen, we're gonna see who can write the product faster, but wait, till it appears.
And then I'll say draw.
Get ready, get set.
Draw.
If you got 81 then you're correct.
Why, you're faster than a hog tied fried fraud on a Friday.
That doesn't mean you're gonna beat me next time.
(Math wicked laughing) (wild west music) - [Narrator] Hey, can you say the product for the next multiplication fact you see before the surfer dude does?
(clock ticking) - 36.
(kids cheering) - [Narrator] Wow.
What a wipe out.
- So, what's so mysterious about this mysterious number nine, you wonder, hey?
Well watch this.
- [Narrator] Here's a cool trick using mysterious number nine, and it works with one times nine all the way through 10 times nine.
You can use your fingers to find the products very quickly when you're multiplying by nine.
Take this problem, four times nine.
Now we're gonna count the four fingers from the left.
1, 2, 3, 4, and bend the fourth finger.
Now, before the bent finger, we have three fingers showing, and those are three tens, 10, 20, 30.
30.
And then to the right of the bent finger, we have six fingers showing, those are six ones.
So, if you look at it, we have three tens and six ones, that makes 36.
Four times nine equals 36.
Can you answer the next multiplication problem before Betty Crock-Pot does?
(timer ticking) - 36.
Oh, oh, I'm so glad they didn't throw the confetti.
It's so messy.
(gong clangs) (confetti flying) - Now it's time to head over to the multiplication station where Max the Multiplier is multiplying with the mysterious number nine.
Oh.
- [Narrator] From the fun factor satellite in outer space, and the proud product studios in Hollywood, You are watching the Multiplication Station.
- Hey, this is your multiplication station VJ Max, the multiplier.
Today, we're multiplying by nine.
Check out these fun videos, and then I'll check back with you.
(upbeat music) Hey, how do you think you did?
Are you ready for the Multiplication Station Quicky Quiz?
Let's find out.
- [Narrator] The multiplication station presents the Quicky Quiz.
(kids cheering) - Wonderful.
See if you can say the products before Charles does.

- [Narrator] 6 Times nine is- - 54.

You know if you missed some, you can go back and practice with the video again.
With a little practice, you will become a multiplication sensation.
(upbeat music) - [Narrator] And now it's time for the Multiplication Wipeout.
If you've learned the multiplying by nine facts, you get to wipe them out.
Here we go.
Hey, there's only one fact to wipe out.
Nine times nine equals 81.
Okay.
Wipe it out.
We did it.
We wiped out all of the multiplication facts.
Now keep practicing your multiplication tables so that you don't forget, but for now, congratulations.
(upbeat music) (jazz music) - Hey Sam.
- Hey, what boss?
- If you had 475 dollars in one hand and 875 dollars in the other hand, what would you have?
- I'd have pretty big hands.
(piano riff) - That's not funny.
- [Narrator] If that's not funny.
What is funny?
- You want to see funny?
I'll show you funny.
(kids laughing) - [Narrator] Whoa, you're right, that is funny.
(horns blaring) - Did you hear that?
That means Math Park is closing for today.
Until Math Park reopens.
