Her Latin name, "The single bitch romanticus," is a calculated opponent to her potential mates.
As in any mating ritual, Nicole must look presentable to attract the opposite sex.
Because Nicole desires a mate for life, she must bring her A-game to "get a player to commit."
A playful touch of the jewelry is important.
Human males are attracted to shiny objects.
-For Gabe?
-Thank you.
-She is ready to strike.
-Oh, man.
You all right?
-I'm fine.
I'm fine.
-Cool.
-What are you watching?
-Oh, just a Fortnite thing.
-She starts to reconsider her advances.
-Yeah, I'm just watching because my little brother plays.
It's a way for us to spend time together, you know?
-Her prowl resumes.
-It's Gabe, right?
I heard the barista say it.
-Yeah.
-I'm Nicole.
[music] -How old's your little brother?
-Huh?
-Unfortunately, she fails to seal the deal.
Foiled once again by objects shinier than she.
-You're going to spill it.
-I'm not going to spill it.
-You're going to spill it.
-I'm not going to spill it.
-Licking her wounds, Nicole returns to her pack.
-Didn't go well?
-Going to a coffee shop for the sole purpose of meeting guys is a new level of sad.
How am I supposed to meet anybody now that we've graduated?
-You're supposed to be looking for a job.
But beyond that, you know what I'm going to say about guys?
You got to get on the apps.
-You got to get on the apps.
I'm not getting on the apps.
-Then let's go out.
We can go to clubs.
-No clubs.
I'm supposed to meet my soulmate while he's wasted and grinding up on me?
-She's got a point.
-It could happen.
-Okay.
Honestly, maybe your expectations are a little too high.
I think it's super sweet that you're such a romantic, but-- -But are you still trying to force meet cutes instead of just talking to a guy?
-I pretended to trip over his table so he would help me out.
-Have you ever thought of just asking a guy out instead of waiting for him to do it?
-Instead of just giving him the googly eyes, you can walk up and ask him.
-Wait, what was that?
-The googly eyes.
The googly eyes where she trips and falls over his table.
-Fine, but I need my wing woman.
-I told you were going to spill that.
-You [?]
into me.
You knew I was holding it.
-With this new pack hunting approach, Nicole readies herself for another mating attempt.
As the trio stalks their prey, there is a narrowing process known as mate choice.
-Pass.
-Basically, they have to filter out all the uglies.
-Geez, [?
], be nice.
-He looks like a muppet.
-Oh, he seems nice.
-He looks like he would talk to your hoo-ha before going down on you.
You know what I mean?
-Like, talking into a microphone?
-Yes.
-I'm still going to go for it.
-I would.
-I would -Oftentimes, males will use canine companions to attract females, a form of deception that makes a male seem more charming than he actually is.
-Your dog is so cute.
What's their name?
-Oh, that's a big one.
Look that.
-Oh my God.
[music] -Superior intelligence can be of great quality in a mate.
-Chess is such an interesting game.
So much technique and strategy.
I have my own set.
The pieces have little magnets so that I don't lose them.
-That is, if you can get their attention.
-You know, you're both so entranced in the game.
I'll leave you to it.
ç an8Ñ-[Russian language] What was that about?
ç an8Ñ-[Russian language] I have no idea.
[music] -Are you tired?
Because you've been running through my mind all day.
-As Nicole's situation worsens, concerns grow about her developing into the female incel, or femcel.
-Are you okay?
-How do you like to be flirted with?
Because I'm tired of trying to figure it out, so just tell me what I have to do to get your attention.
-I mean, what you're doing right now is pretty good.
A lot of guys are probably intimidated by you.
-Oh.
-No, it's not a bad thing.
It shouldn't be, but some guys are insecure like that.
I think it's hot.
-I'm Nicole.
-Jake.
Nicole, do I have to ask you out on a date or do you want to take the lead on that too?
-How does Friday sound?
-Success.
Nicole moves on to the next stage of mating, pair bonding.
We happen upon the interested parties mid-bond.
Observe the male.
Colloquially known as peacocking, he overdresses to impress his female.
-You look really nice, by the way.
-Oh, thank you.
And you look great too.
I love that necklace.
-Oh, it's a chain.
-Oh, right.
Sorry.
Chain.
-Yeah.
What's next for you now that you've graduated?
-Oh.
Well, I'm on the job hunt right now.
The dream is to work for a nonprofit.
Just something to make the world a better place.
I've always thought if you can help other people, why wouldn't you?
-I'm thinking about becoming a rapper.
-Oh?
-The male flaunts his car, known as a sexual ornament, used to increase attractiveness and boost his already high ego.
-This is me.
I had a good time tonight.
-Yeah, me too.
-You're on birth control, right?
-What did you just ask me?
-See, I'm not really a condom guy.
-You want to- in the backseat of your car?
-Yeah.
I just assumed you'd put out.
You seem so desperate asking guys out the way that you were.
-Apparently, the male counterpart has only been interested in sexual selection.
-I thought this was a real date.
-Yeah, sure.
Oh, God.
I've got to get back in the apps.
-Asshole.
-In response to her mate rejection, Nicole recuperates and self-soothes.
-Hey.
-Hey.
How's your porn?
-I'm only 200 pages away from the sex.
-Sounds worth it.
-I'm sorry your date went so bad.
-I thought he really liked me.
-Did you like him?
-Well, yeah.
He seemed like the type of guy who wouldn't complain about picking me up from the airport.
-Did he actually seem like that or did you just want him to be like that?
-I don't know.
Maybe I just wanted him to be like that.
It was so bad.
I had to Uber, because he left me there.
-[laughs] -That is not funny.
-It is.
It's funny.
-It's funny.
-Well, I'm glad you can laugh about it.
-That sucks, though.
I'm sorry that happened.
-That does suck.
-It's okay.
-While Nicole has thankfully avoided the mate, Jake, she realizes an adaptation must occur in her mating approach.
-Here you go.
Damn, girl, you're looking good tonight.
Hey, I'm off in 30 minutes in case you want to-- Wait, what are you doing later?
-Having learned that a male cannot be who she wants him to be, Nicole isn't trying to force mating encounters anymore.
-I was picturing how cute our babies would be, so I shut it down.
It'll happen when it happens.
-Who are you?
-Wait, do you feel all right?
-Who is this in our house right now.
-Guys, I'm fine.
-I feel like I'm in Twilight Zone.
-I am so proud of you.
-Thank you.
-Ending her mating season by choice, Nicole focuses on herself, too, girl boss, and slay.
After all, platonic mates are the most valuable to have.
[singing] -Becoming a respected member of a pack, he's important to any [?]
-Hi, I'm Daniel from IT.
You needed some help with your computer?
-Oh, yeah.
I'm Nicole.
Nice to meet you.
-Oh, I know.
I actually saw your presentation earlier, and it was really impressive.
-Oh, thank you.
Oh, yeah.
Since the presentation, every time I try to go on this guy, it freezes like-- Sorry.
-Sorry.
Do you mind?
-What's this?
There's a familiar twinkle in Nicole's eyes.
-There you go.
-Thank you.
-Was there anything else?
-No, but do you have a business card or anything in case I need you for IT stuff?
-I'm right down the hall.
-Do you want to get a drink after work today?
-A drink?
Can we get ice cream instead?
-I think it's safe to say that this will be Nicole's final hunt.
