instruments out of...junk!
(strumming ukulele) - And I'm making instruments out of me.
- And as we play these cool instruments, we're going to totally rock out...in three.
- Totally rockin' in three!
...Say what?
- Usually, we play music in four.
That means we use a musical pattern where the beat goes... One, two, three, four... - (both): One, two, three, four!
- But when you're playing in three, the beat goes one, two, three... ♫ - (birds)♫Tweet tweet tweet♫ - One, two, three One, two, three.
-♫You can dance and sing and shake your thing♫ ♫In one, two, three In one, two, three♫ - (Cat):♫I can waltz and groove and really move♫ ♫In one, two, three One, two, three♫ -♫Smooth and nimbly skipping simply♫ -♫In lovely - (all): One, two, three♫ (twanging) - Whoa!
- My string broke!
Without a string to strum, I can't play music in three or four or anything!
This is a big problem!
- Yeah!
Whoa... OK... Wahoo!
- That's it, you up-down, over-and-around genius!
- Huh?
- (Peg): You went flying up... - Way away from the ground.
- Then down... - Right back towards the ground.
- Up and down are opposites, Cat.
That means they're totally different.
- Then I went over you... - Right up over my head onto that wheel, and then you went in circles around the wheel.
- And how does all that make me a genius?
- Because we can move this old wire in those four ways to replace the string on my uke.
Check it out!
- First we'll pull the wire up, and then we'll pull this end down.
- Up and down!
- Next we'll bring it over this knobby thingy, and then we'll wrap it around.
- Round and around and around... Yeah!
- We fixed my uke, and so... (strumming rapidly)
