We still have so much junk!
- I'll get some more bins from the nursery school.
How many do you need?
- I have no idea!
Should I count every bottle, can and carton?
That will take forever.
- You don't have to count them all, Peg, you can estimate.
That means, make a careful guess.
- You can solve problems by guessing?
- Get out of town!
- (laughing): Yeah!
♫When you're in a mess♫ ♫With no time to count, take a careful guess♫ ♫Of the amount You can estimate♫ - We can estimate?
-♫You can estimate♫ - We can "guess-timate"?
-♫You can estimate♫ -♫We can estimate♫ - Ooo-weee, we're running out of time.
We've got to recycle this stuff fast!
- I'll head to the school.
Call me when you know how many bins you need.
- Will do, Ramone!
- OK, Cat, let's estimate!
- 100!
No, uh, 11!
Uh, 27!
Estimating is easy.
- Caaat, Ramone said estimating is making a careful guess.
You can't just say the first number that you think of!
- OK, 42!
- To estimate how many bins we need, let's compare the sizes of the piles to the size of the bins.
The metal pile's about the same size as the metal bin, so I estimate we'll need one more metal bin.
(beeping) - Hello, Ramone?
One bin for metal.
- [Got it.]
- Now, this plastic pile is even bigger, about as big as two bins.
So I estimate we'll need two bins for the plastic stuff.
- Two bins for plastic.
- Hmmm...
The paper stack is really big.
I think we'll need three bins for the paper.
- Three bins for paper.
(truck honking) - That was fast!
- (Peg): The bins are here!
- One bin for metal.
- It fits!
- Two bins for plastic.
- Those fit too!
- And three bins for paper.
- It all fits!
Yes, honey!
Ha!
Ha!
- Great estimating, Peg.
- Guessing really works, I guess.
- To the recycling center!
- You've got it!
- Woohoo!
The field is clean, which means...
