Women make up a majority of the nation's voters, yet continue to hold a small fraction of the nation's political leadership positions. Women make up 52% of the U.S electorate, yet hold only 18% of the seats in the U.S. Congress and 24% of all seats in the nation's state legislatures. Only 12% of large-city mayors and 10% of the nation's governors are women.
