In 2018, Michigan voters approved a measure that created a new way of redistricting in the state. That led to the Michigan Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission, a 13-member bipartisan panel of non-politicians, designed to create fair, competitive political maps and bring an end to gerrymandering.
