A spectacular one, too, that does many wonderful things.
But simple machines are simpler and can help you do jobs you can't do on your own.
(Laughing) Yeah!
Sally, pushing and pulling can be hard to do, even harder with something that's bigger than you.
But a simple machine can be helpful with that.
You might move a mountain or even a cat!
(Laughing) Okay, but what's this clothesline doing here?
It's here because it's a simple machine called a pulley.
A-ha!
I wondered where I left my washing to dry.

(Chuckling nervously) What are those doing here?
(Laughing) But we don't need something that moves this way and that way.
We need something that moves this way, to get the trunk up into the treehouse.
Which one is the best for that?
There are so many things.
Maybe two more things can help you decide.

Hi, Things.
Can you help us find a machine that will get our trunk up into the treehouse?

This ramp really works.
But this only reaches to the top of the cat's hat.
We need a ramp high enough to reach the top of the treehouse.

(Gasping) That one might work.
NICK: But that's too big to fit in the backyard.
We'll have to keep looking.
