Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorship(reverent orchestral music) - [Narrator] The word of the week is bivouac, which has military origins and is usually applied to a temporary encampment with little or no shelter.
Nowadays, it can refer to any temporary casual shelter.
You could just as easily say, "We camped for the night," but it sounds more adventurous to say, "We bivouacked under the stars."
