Many school districts are making the decision to close for the rest of the year.
At face value, the numbers don’t look bad for schools, but the entire state has now reached level orange, indicating the severity of the second wave. It’s leading many districts to close until at least January, giving time for any increased spread around the holidays to be detected. Some districts are closing because of staffing shortages, exacerbated by a statewide substitute shortage
