Slime!
We all know slime is sticky, squishy, bouncy, and stretchy.
But, did you know slime is a polymer?
Professor Eric, break it down for us.
What is a polymer?
Great question.
Polymers are very special substances.
What makes polymers so special are what composes them.
So like you and all of the things around you, polymers compose the things called atoms.
And atoms join together in groups to form molecules.
When repeating molecules join together into long chains, they form polymers.
"Poly" means many, "mer" means parts, and together you have many parts to form these long chains.
And these long chains are what gives polymers their complexity and their strength.
Where they don't break, but they're able to twist, stretch, and bounce.
