They're so cute.
And so squirrely!
[squirrels chattering] Everyone can help Project Squirrel by looking for gray squirrels and fox squirrels.
It's a citizen science project.
We have our own question about squirrels.
...and we need YOUR help.
But first... (all) Welcome to the Squirrel Channel!
How can you tell the difference between a gray squirrel and a fox squirrel?
I'm a gray squirrel.
I've got white fur on my belly and in my tail.
I'm a fox squirrel.
The fur on my belly and in my tail is orange-ish.
That means I must be... [tick-tick] [tick-tick-tick-tick] [tick-tick-tick-tick-tick-tick] (all) A gray squirrel!!!
[squirrel chirping] (all) The Big Question!
(Elise) SciGirls wants to know...
When looking for different squirrels, does having trees nearby make a difference?
(all) Step1!
Pick a place to look for squirrels.
And remember how many trees are nearby.
No trees...
Some trees... or lots of trees.
(all) Step 2!
Look for squirrels!
Come back and tell us what kinds you saw.
Tell us if you didn't see any squirrels too.
We still want to know!
GO, GO, GO!!!
With your help, we can learn more... about the kinds of squirrels in different places.
Go for it SciGirls!
