Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorship- We're in the Grantchester Meadows, filming "Grantchester," Season 11, which is obviously our last season.
I think they filmed every season here out of the 11.
In the three seasons I've been here, we've done quite a few.
(towel rustling) - Um, you do know you're trespassing?
- One scene in particular is me going for a run, jogging up and down.
And because I was wearing 1960s' running shoes, which weren't great, I rolled my ankle.
So that was a fun one.
Another cool scene that I did was just over there.
And if you guys remember, I think it was season 10.
- Perfect.
- Where Geordie reconnects with his son, David.
And Alphy kind of gives Geordie a big hug and they go fishing there.
- [Geordie] Now, keep the line tight.
- Hey!
- So are you part... Do we need to get security?
Sorry, mate, we're just filming something for- - Supporting artist.
- You're a supporting artist?
- Yes.
- Very supporting.
Come here.
Last time on the meadows- - Oh, it's gorgeous.
- How you feeling?
- Feel kind of sad.
But what a day.
- Yeah.
- I mean, they picked out the perfect day.
- The sun is shining.
- I've got sunburn.
- What the dickens!
Who left the butter out to melt, for goodness' sake?
- The best one was James and Robson doing push-ups by there.
- Before they jumped in.
- Robson trying to compete with James.
(water splashing) Before they jumped in in October and it was freezing and we were all just sat there.
- Whoo!
- And the wasps kept trying to attack me.
But that was a good one.
- That is disconcerting when that happens.
- They're ready for us on set.
- Ready for us on set.
This is the money shot.
Look at that, beautiful windows.
We've had many iconic scenes here in the church.
Let's go outside.
Obviously, I remember my very first sermon that I did here.
- It's hard coming to a new place, away from everyone and everything you know.
- The vicarage is here.
This is the real vicar of Grantchester in real life's house.
Everything that we shoot outside is done here.
As soon as you step into the door, we're actually filming in a studio.
So it's not actually what's in there.
(door latch clicking) I mean, we've had some amazing scenes in the vicarage.
- [Geordie] Everyone who witnessed a murder today, hands up.
- Some of my favorite scenes are with Tessa Peake-Jones, who plays Mrs.
C, when she gives him Alphy's letter that his mom has written to him, which he's ripped up.
It's been stitched back together, which was a really nice emotional scene.
My very first scene that I did in Grantchester, they thought that I was robbing the place.
They came in here.
Geordie, who thought he was the big man, came in.
- Gotcha.
Ooh!
(elbow and hand thumping) Oh!
Ah!
- And he got punched in the face.
Don't mess about with Alphy, is the lesson.
- I'm calling the police.
- I am the police.
- So I've shown you around the meadows, the vicarage, the church.
Those are the three staple locations in Grantchester.
They hold special memories for myself, for Tom, for James, all three vicars, and especially Robson.
Yeah, series 11.
We're filming the last scenes now, so you've seen it all.
(bright whimsical music)
