EVERYBODY'S GRANDMOTHER MADE A LITTLE DUTCH GIRL AND A LITTLE DUTCH BOY PATTERN.
I ALWAYS FELT THAT WHEN THE SAMPLES WERE COMPLETED, THE APPLIQUE FIGURES MORE OR LESS STOOD OUT, SO I WANTED TO DO THIS AS MORE OF A PIECED PATTERN.
LET'S TAKE A LOOK ON THE BOARD AND GET AN IDEA HOW IT CAN BE BROKEN DOWN, REALLY, INTO TRIANGLES AND THEN THE FIGURE IN THE CENTER.
THE LITTLE DUTCH GIRL STARTING WITH FOUR LARGE TRIANGLES THEN GOING TO THREE SMALLER ONES.
THE FIGURE IN THE CENTER IS HER DRESS AND THEN HER HAT.
AND WE HAVE TWO TRIANGLES ON EITHER SIDE.
THE ONLY TOUCHES OF APPLIQUE THAT YOU HAVE ARE THE ARM AND THE FOOT.
THE LITTLE BOY IS REALLY A BACK VERSION, AND YOU HAVE THE FOUR CORNERS AND, ONCE AGAIN, THE THREE TRIANGLES AND THE HAT AND THE LITTLE COVERALLS.
LET'S PLACE THEM ON THE BOARDS HERE, AND I THINK YOU CAN GET MORE OF AN IDEA HOW IT WORKS.
YOU'VE GOT THE CORNER TRIANGLES, AND THEN THESE SIMPLY FILL IN IN THE SECTIONS WHERE THEY GO.
AND THERE WILL BE A LITTLE BIT OF APPLIQUE WORK.
IN OTHER WORDS, THE LITTLE DUTCH-- THE LITTLE WOODEN SHOE HAS TO BE TURNED UNDER.
THE RAW EDGES NEED TO BE TURNED UNDER.
AND THEN I WOULD SIMPLY PIN THAT ONE THERE, THEN THE DRESS CAN GO HERE, AND OF COURSE, YOU MIGHT WANT TO PUT SOME LACE ON THE BOTTOM OF HER DRESS.
THAT ALWAYS LOOKS NICE.
THEN THESE TRIANGLES FILL IN ON EACH SIDE, AND THEN HER HAT GOES ON.
NOW, BEFORE YOU PUT THE HAT ON, YOU NEED TO GO AHEAD AND SEW A TRIANGLE HERE.
AND THEN ONCE THAT IS ALL DONE, MORE LACE CAN BE MORE OR LESS JUST SLIP-STITCHED IN PLACE AROUND HERE TO GIVE IT A BONNET LOOK.
ONCE YOU GET THAT DONE, THEN THE LITTLE ARM CAN GO IN PLACE AND THE LITTLE HAND IN PLACE THERE.
SO THAT'S THE LITTLE GIRL.
FOR THE LITTLE BOY, VERY SIMILAR, THE TRIANGLES IN EACH CORNER.
AND I LIKE TO GO AHEAD AND PIN AND TURN UNDER THE FEET RIGHT THERE.
AND THEN THE COVERALLS, YOU NEED A TRIANGLE HERE, OF COURSE, TO GIVE HIM PANTS, AND THAT CONNECTS RIGHT DOWN THERE.
TRIANGLES ON EACH SIDE AND THEN THE HAT UP HERE.
I THINK IT'S NICE TO DO A LITTLE BIT OF EMBROIDERY WORK RIGHT HERE, AND IT SETS OFF HIS LITTLE SUN HAT.
LET'S GO TO THE MACHINE AND COMPLETE THESE.
AS IN ALL PIECE WORK, WE'RE GONNA START WITH OUR SMALLEST PIECES FIRST.
I'M GOING TO ATTACH THE TRIANGLE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE TROUSERS TO FILL IN THAT AREA, AND I'M GOING TO SEW UP TO THE DOT AND BACKSTITCH AND THEN TAKE IT OFF THE MACHINE.
I NEED TO RELEASE THAT RED FABRIC UNDERNEATH, AND I'LL SHOW YOU HOW THAT'S DONE.
SOME PEOPLE SEW OVER THEIR PINS.
I DON'T REALLY CARE TO.
ONCE I'VE GOTTEN TO THE DOT, BACKSTITCH, AND THEN WITH MY SHARP SCISSORS, I'M GOING TO JUST COME, AND YOU CAN JUST SNIP RIGHT UP TO THAT, AND THAT RELEASES IT.
AND THEN WE'RE GONNA GO AHEAD AND SIMPLY TURN THIS ALL THE WAY AROUND.
IT HAS A LOT MORE GIVE AND WILL TURN VERY READILY THEN.
ALL RIGHT, COME BACK.
AND I LIKE TO GET THAT AS FLAT AS YOU CAN AND START RIGHT WHERE YOU BACKSTITCHED.
ALL THE WAY DOWN.
AND THEN GET RID OF ALL YOUR THREADS, SO YOU AREN'T SO CONFUSED.
AND THEN YOU'RE READY TO ADD THE REST OF YOUR TRIANGLES.
LET THAT SEAM GO BACK.
AND SEE HOW NICE AND FLAT THAT RESTS THERE?
I THINK THAT HAS A NICE FEELING.
LINE UP THIS TRIANGLE.
YOU WANT HIS LITTLE SHOES RIGHT WHERE THE-- LET'S SEE, THE SAME AMOUNT OF AREA COMES OFF, AND I'M GOING TO PIN THESE IN PLACE AND THEN COME AND PUT THESE TOGETHER.
AND WHEN YOU DO THIS, MAKE SURE THE SAME AMOUNT OF DOG-EAR IS GONNA HANG OFF EACH END AND THEN LINE THIS UP SO THE SHOES ARE ACTUALLY ON THE TROUSERS.
THAT MAKES SENSE, DOESN'T IT?
OKAY, PIN THIS IN PLACE.
ACTUALLY WHAT WE HAVE ARE THREE SETS OF TRIANGLES THAT ARE GOING AROUND THIS FIGURE, AND I'M GONNA LET THAT SEAM GO TO THE BACK BECAUSE THE DARKER AREA THERE.
REMEMBER, YOU CAN, IF YOU'RE STILL NOT SURE OF THAT 1/4 INCH SEAM ALLOWANCE, YOU CAN PLACE SOME MASKING TAPE ON THE THROAT PLATE OF YOUR MACHINE.
I THINK THAT DOES HELP AND KIND OF GIVES YOU A GUIDE WHERE TO GO.
YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE TIME ON THESE LITTLE FIGURES AND HAVE THE SEAM ALLOWANCE ALREADY TURNED OVER.
ALL RIGHT, ONCE THAT BOTTOM PIECE IS PUT ON, I LIKE TO ATTACH THE HEAD.
FLIP THAT BACK.
I KNOW THAT LATER ON, YOU'RE GOING TO SECURE, YOU'RE GONNA SLIP-STITCH THEY LITTLE BOOTIES, THE LITTLE SHOES IN PLACE.
THEN COME AND PUT THE HAT ON, TWO RIGHT SIDES TOGETHER.
AND YOU'LL NOTICE WHEN YOU DO THAT, THEY JUST LINE UP PERFECTLY.
AND AFTER THIS HAS BEEN SEWN ON, THEN YOU'RE GONNA THINK ABOUT YOUR TRIANGLES ON THE SIDE.
AND THE LITTLE ARMS, WHICH IS ACTUALLY-- YOU'RE LOOKING AT THE BACK, THE BACK OF HIS SHOULDERS, MORE THAN ANYTHING.
THAT WILL SECURE RIGHT IN THERE.
AND JUST FLIP THAT OVER, AND WHEN YOU LINE THAT UP, MAKE SURE THAT THE LITTLE 1/4 INCH LINE THERE IS MEETING RIGHT AT THAT SEAM.
I'D GO AHEAD AND PUT A PIN THERE, AND THAT WILL GIVE YOU AN AREA TO REACH FOR.
IF THERE'S A PIN THERE, THEN THIS COMES ALL THE WAY DOWN.
ONCE AGAIN, I'M GONNA LET THAT SEAM GO BACK TO THE RED.
AND THEN TAKE YOUR 1/4 INCH.
NOW, WHEN YOU GET UP HERE-- AS I'M SEWING, YOU SEE, I'M INCLUDING-- I'VE GOT TO SNEAK UNDER HERE AND GET THAT PIN.

I'VE GOT TO PULL OUT THAT PIN.
YOU COULD HAVE BASTED THAT LITTLE SHOULDER, THAT LITTLE ARM IN PLACE IF YOU WANTED TO.
AS YOU'RE COMING UP HERE, I'M GOING TO PIVOT ON THE MACHINE.
WHEN I GET TO THAT AREA, MY NEEDLE IS RIGHT DOWN IN THAT SEAM.

SO IT REALLY MAKES IT NICE.
OKAY, THE NEXT THING TO DO-- I'VE LOST A TRIANGLE.
THE NEXT THING TO DO WOULD BE TO SEW A TRIANGLE HERE AND A TRIANGLE HERE AND THEN YOUR FOUR LARGE TRIANGLES WILL SEW IN PLACE.
AND I WOULD PUT A LITTLE BIT OF EMBROIDERY WORK HERE.
LET'S LOOK AT THESE FIGURES AND SEE HOW THEY ARE COMPLETED IN A WHOLE BABY QUILT.
I BELIEVE THE PIECED BOY BECOMES A LITTLE MORE VISIBLE WHEN YOU CAN SEE HIM IN THE ACTUAL QUILT.
WHAT I HAVE DONE HERE IS TO REALLY MAKE A LARGE BASIC NINE-PATCH BY DOING FOUR, TWO OF OUR LITTLE GIRLS AND TWO OF OUR LITTLE BOYS, AND THEN THE CENTER CALICO PICKS UP ONE OF THE TRIANGLES IN EACH OF THE SQUARE SO THAT YOU HAVE A WHOLE ENTIRE STAR FORMED.
AND I, OF COURSE, NAMED THIS "A STAR IS BORN."
AND TO DO THE STENCILING DESIGN, I DECIDED ON JUST A STAR DESIGN WHICH ACTUALLY CAME FROM A COOKIE CUTTER.
AND THEN--CAN YOU SEE THE LITTLE CHILDREN HOLDING HANDS ALL THE WAY AROUND?
I HAD FUN JUST BY TAKING SOME CONTACT PAPER AND MAKING THE--CUTTING OUT THE PAPER DOLL EFFECT WITH THAT AND THEN, OF COURSE, PUT A CALICO OR A LITTLE PASTEL CALICO ON THE BACK SIDE.
I DID A WHOLE LAYETTE AND WENT AHEAD AND PUT THE BLOCKS ON THE INSIDE OF A WICKER BASKET AND EVEN A TOTE BAG.
I'VE GOT TO SHOW YOU THESE LITTLE PEOPLE.
NOT ONLY HAVE OUR QUILTS CHANGED OVER THE YEARS, BUT OUR DOLLS HAVE TOO.
THIS IS IRENE GRAHAM'S LITTLE BABY, "ONLY A MOTHER COULD LOVE."

THIS LITTLE PEOPLE ARE SO SWEET.

ANN KANIPE HAS DONE A PILLOW AND A WHOLE QUILT IN THE CHURN DASH DESIGN AND HAS LAP QUILTED IT WITH AN EYELET BORDER ALL THE WAY AROUND THE OUTSIDE.
ANOTHER THING THAT'S NICE TO THINK OF ARE ALL THE DIFFERENT CHECKS IN THE PASTEL COLORS.
I THINK THAT'S A NICE CONCEPT ALSO.
PENNY WORTMAN IS WORKING-- SHE NEEDS TO GET THIS BACK SO SHE CAN FINISH IT FOR A FRIEND.
THIS IS THE GRANDMOTHER'S FAN GOING INTO A BABY QUILT FOR A FRIEND.

THIS WAS A BIG UNDERTAKING FOR A CLASS IN LANDRUM, SOUTH CAROLINA.
AND WE HAD ALWAYS WANTED TO DO THE DOUBLE WEDDING RING IN LAP QUILTING STYLE.
AND THIS WAS 20 DIFFERENT WOMEN'S EFFORTS, AND I THINK THEY REALLY NEED TO BE COMMENDED.
I THINK IT'S A GOOD IDEA TO THINK OF WHEN YOU'RE MAKING A QUILT, GO AHEAD AND MAKE EITHER ONE EXTRA BLOCK OR TWO OR THREE AND PUT THEM INTO A WALL HANGING TO MAYBE GO IN THE SAME ROOM WHERE YOUR QUILT IS DISPLAYED.
THIS, OF COURSE, WILL GO TO RUTH FARARR AS A PERMANENT REMINDER OF THE QUILT THAT EVERYONE WORKED ON.
LET'S GO AND SEE EXACTLY HOW THIS ENTIRE QUILT WAS DRAFTED.

QUITE OFTEN IN THE DOUBLE WEDDING RING, YOU THINK OF ALL THESE DIFFERENT SECTIONS AS BEING DIFFERENT CALICOS.
IN THIS CASE, WE HAVE GONE AHEAD, AND WE DO HAVE MORE OR LESS A THEME GOING TO THIS QUILT.
WE HAVE ALTERNATED THE RED AND THE BLUE DESIGNS IN THE WHOLE RING ITSELF.

THIS FIGURE--OF COURSE, WHENEVER I HAVE A SLASHED LINE, THAT MEANS TO BE PUT ON THE FOLD.

NOW, IN ORDER TO SET THIS CURVE IN, WHAT I USUALLY DO IS FOLD THIS AND FIND THE MIDPOINT, AND SOMETIMES A CREASE WILL DO.
OR IF YOU WANT TO FEEL A LITTLE BIT BETTER ABOUT THAT, PUT A PIN RIGHT THERE.

I THINK IT'S WELL WORTH IT WHEN IT'S FINISHED.
AND THERE IS ANOTHER SUGGESTION I DO HAVE IF YOU DON'T WANT TO PUT THIS MUCH PIECEWORK IN YOUR WHOLE QUILT.
THIS RING THAT HAS BEEN PIECED, YOU COULD GO AHEAD YOU COULD GO AHEAD AND CUT ONE ENTIRE PIECE OUT OF THAT.
I'LL SHOW YOU WHAT I HAD IN MIND.
ALL RIGHT, ONCE THAT HAS BEEN SEWN TOGETHER, PULL OUT YOUR PIN.
AND ONCE AGAIN, THAT SECTION IS GONNA FIT INTO THAT.
NOW, I HAVE ONE ALREADY SEWN.
YOU SEE HOW THIS IS SEWN HERE?
THEN THIS RED RING IS GOING TO SEW TO THAT.
LET'S SEE.
UM...
WAIT A MINUTE.

THIS WILL GO HERE.
LET'S PUT IT OVER HERE SO WE CAN GET A BETTER VIEW.
THAT WILL GO HERE, THEN THE WHITE, THE MUSLIN, GOES AGAINST THE BLUE.

I THINK YOU CAN UNDERSTAND THAT BETTER.
NOW THE THING THAT'S LEFT TO DO OVER HERE IS, THE YELLOW WE'LL SEW TO THE RED, AND THE YELLOW WE'LL SEW TO THE RED OVER HERE.
NOW YOUR NEXT STEP IS TO SEW THIS SECTION TOGETHER, THEN THIS SECTION WILL SEW HERE, AND THIS WILL SEW HERE.
THEN THIS WHOLE SECTION WILL SIMPLY SWING INTO HERE, AND THAT IS HOW THAT WILL GO TOGETHER.
THIS WOULD BE YOUR OTHER OPTION.
YOU'LL HAVE THIS TEMPLATE ALSO SO THAT YOU COULD GO AHEAD AND SIMPLY HAVE AN ENTIRE RING THERE AND AN ENTIRE RED RING THERE, DO YOU UNDERSTAND, WITHOUT HAVING YOUR PIECEWORK, BUT THIS, OF COURSE, DOES MAKE A NICE SCRAP QUILT.
NOW WHEN YOU COME OVER HERE, YOU HAVE TO DO SOME PINNING HERE.
THAT'S YOUR MIDPOINT.
YOU KNOW THAT'S GOING TO GO RIGHT THERE.
AND THEN THIS WOULD SWING ALL THE WAY AROUND.
YOU'VE GOT TO MEET YOUR YELLOW WITH YOUR BLUE AND GO AHEAD AND PUT A PIN THERE.
THIS WILL STABILIZE.
AND THEN, ONCE AGAIN, IF YOU KNOW THE MIDPOINT HERE, THAT'S YOUR MIDDLE SECTION, AND IT WOULD SIMPLY SWING AROUND.
SO THAT WOULD SWING ALL THE WAY INTO THAT SECTION, FORMING YOUR RING.
NOW, WE WANTED TO COMPLETE THIS QUILT WITH AN ENTIRE SCALLOPED BORDER, AND I'LL GIVE YOU AN IDEA OF HOW WE DID THAT.
QUITE OFTEN ON QUILTS THAT ARE LAP QUILTED, YOU SEE BORDERS AND THINGS THAT ARE ADDED AFTERWARDS.
WELL, REALLY THEY'RE ANY WHICH WAY YOU CAN ADD THEM.
THEY COULD BE SCALLOPED, THEY COULD HAVE POINTS, AND THEY COULD BE JUST STRAIGHT BANDS.
IN THIS CASE, WE WENT AHEAD AND MEASURED THAT DISTANCE, AND WE KNEW IT WAS 20 INCHES.
AND WE SIMPLY DRAFTED, USING A COMPASS AGAIN, THE DEPTH OF THE SCALLOP THAT WE WANTED.
AND OF COURSE, THEN WE SEWED A LONG SCALLOPED BORDER.
AND WE EVEN WENT AHEAD-- I DON'T KNOW IF YOU NOTICED ON THE DOUBLE WEDDING RING QUILT WE HAD USED A HEART, A COOKIE CUTTER AGAIN, AND SO WE USED THE HEART AS THE CENTER OF THE LITTLE BOW THAT GOES IN THE SCALLOP, AND THEN THAT WAS ATTACHED TO THE OUTSIDE BORDER OF THE QUILT WHEN IT WAS ALL FINISHED AND PUT TOGETHER.
OF COURSE, THERE WERE RAW EDGES TO DEAL WITH.
AND WE--BUT IT WAS NICE.
WE COULD QUILT THIS SEPARATELY AND THEN ADD IT TO THE QUILT, SO THAT WORKED OUT VERY NICE.
LET'S SWITCH FROM CURVES TO DIAMONDS.
MY LITTLE GREMLINS HAVE BEEN AT WORK LAYING THIS ALL OUT FOR ME.

WE WANT TO TALK ABOUT OUR STAR QUILT.
WE HAVE NAMED IT "OH, MY STARS," BECAUSE WE HAD JUST GOT SO EXCITED WHEN WE SAW ALL THE COLORS SELECTED THAT WE HAVE FOR THIS QUILT.
IN EACH--THIS IS AN EIGHT-POINTED STAR.
ALL BASED ON THE ONE-DIAMOND FIGURE.
NOW, IN EACH POINT OF THE STAR, THERE ARE 36.
I THINK WHAT REALLY EMPHASIZES THIS QUILT IS THAT WE HAVE PUT THE NAVY BLUE DIAMONDS ALL AROUND THE OUTSIDE SO IT GIVES THE POINT A LOT OF EMPHASIS.
I WANTED TO TALK ABOUT SEWING DIAMONDS TOGETHER.
AND KEEP IN MIND-- I WANT TO PICK ONE UP AND KIND OF SHOW YOU.
YOU MIGHT THINK THAT YOU'RE GONNA GO TO THE SEWING MACHINE AND SEW IT JUST LIKE THAT.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DO THAT?
LET'S PRETEND THAT'S BEEN SEWN.
YOU OPEN UP, AND LOOK WHAT YOU'VE GOT.
IT'S DROPPED DOWN.
YOU DO NEED TO HAVE A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF DOG-EAR THAT HANGS OFF EACH END, AND IT'S USUALLY DIFFERENT ON EACH SET OF DIAMONDS, SO WHAT I USUALLY DO IS GO AHEAD AND JUST PIN THAT IN PLACE AND THEN BEND IT BACK AND MAKE SURE THAT IT'S GOING RIGHT.
FOR INSTANCE, I'VE SEWN A COUPLE OF THESE TOGETHER, AND WHEN YOU SWITCH THIS BACK, DO YOU HAVE A NICE STRAIGHT LINE GOING ON RIGHT THERE?
NOW, WHAT YOU ALSO WANT TO DO IN SEWING THESE TOGETHER IS-- FOR INSTANCE, IT WOULD TAKE THREE TRIPS TO THE SEWING MACHINE, ONE, TWO, THREE, SEWING ALL OF THESE TOGETHER, THIS WHOLE LONG ROW.
THEN YOU'RE GONNA COME AND SEW THIS LONG ROW TOGETHER THEN ANOTHER WHOLE SET.
THEN TWO MORE TRIPS TO THE MACHINE SEWING THIS AND THIS, AND YOU HAVE CREATED LONG ROWS.
THEN WHEN THE ROWS ARE SEWN TOGETHER, ONCE AGAIN, YOU'VE GOT TO-- I CALL IT PIN AND PRAY, OR YOU COULD PIN AND PEAK, EITHER ONE.
BUT YOU'VE GOT TO COME BACK AND PUT THIS RIGHT HERE AND PIN THIS LONG ROW JUST LIKE THAT ALL THE WAY ACROSS.
TAKE THAT BACK, AND YOU WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT YOUR NAVY BLUE IS COMING ALL THE WAY DOWN.
IT WILL BE MOST VISIBLE IF IT ISN'T, SO YOU'RE GONNA HAVE TO THEN UNPIN IT AND SCOOT THIS ONE A LITTLE BIT THAT WAY.
BUT ONCE YOU HAVE YOUR DIAMOND ALL SEWN TOGETHER, THEN IN ORDER TO LAP QUILT THIS, YOU'RE GOING TO CUT A SMALL TRIANGLE FOR ONE SIDE AND A LARGER TRIANGLE THAT IS GOING TO CONNECT TO THE CORNER OF YOUR QUILT.
AND SO ACTUALLY YOU ARE LAP QUILTING A LARGE TRIANGLE LIKE THIS.
I BELIEVE IT'S MORE VISIBLE IF YOU LOOK AT THIS TRIANGLE AND SEE EXACTLY HOW THAT WORKS.
NOW, WE HAVE GONE AHEAD AND SEWN TWO TOGETHER IN OUR LAP QUILTING METHOD.
THESE ARE ALL QUILTED, AND YOU CAN BARELY SEE THE SEAM ON THE BACK BECAUSE IT'S THAT FLAT-LAPPED SEAM.
AND ON INSIDE, YOU CAN SEE THAT WE HAVE CONNECTED OUR DIAMONDS, AND, OH, IT'S LOOKING REAL GOOD.
WE'VE GOT THIS CONNECTED HERE AND HERE.
YOU WANT THOSE TO MEET.
YOU'LL ALSO NOTICE THAT WE'VE GOT A FLOATING THREAD.
THE IDEA IS NOT TO HAVE SO MANY KNOTS IN YOUR QUILT, SO YOU LEAVE THAT DANGLING, A DANGLING THREAD, AND COME BACK, AND WHEN THIS IS PUT TOGETHER, THEN YOU'LL RETHREAD YOUR NEEDLE.
ANOTHER THING TO CONSIDER IN YOUR STAR QUILT IS THE FACT THAT IT ENDS UP BEING SQUARE, AND YOU NEED TO ELONGATE IT.
AND WHAT WE HAVE DONE ON THIS SECTION IS THAT ON EACH OPPOSITE END, WE HAVE GONE AHEAD AND DONE A LONG PANEL, A RECTANGULAR PANEL, AT EACH END, STILL BASED ON OUR SAME DIAMOND.
AND IT WORKS OUT NICE.
THERE ARE SIX BLOCKS ALL THE WAY ACROSS THE BOTTOM, AND THAT JUST WORKS VERY SMOOTH.
WE HAVE GONE AHEAD, AND I'VE PINNED FOUR MORE OF THE POINTS TOGETHER.
AND I THINK TO REALLY UNDERSTAND THIS, WE NEED TO SPREAD IT.
AT ONE POINT, YOU'RE GONNA HAVE TO JUST SPREAD IT ALL OUT ON THE FLOOR.
SO COME WITH ME, AND WE'LL JUST SEE EXACTLY HOW THIS GOES TOGETHER.
YOU'VE GOT THE END THAT COMES ALL THE WAY DOWN.
GONNA HAVE TO JUST SPREAD LIKE THIS.
AND THEN THIS SECTION IS GOING TO HAVE TO CONNECT WITH THIS SECTION AGAIN.
IN OTHER WORDS, WE HAVE MORE OF A LAP QUILTING CONNECTION TO MAKE.
AND I THINK YOU CAN GET MORE OF AN IDEA HERE AND SEE EXACTLY.
YOU SEE THESE ARE OUR LARGE TRIANGLES, AND YOU SEE HOW THOSE ARE GONNA CONNECT TO FORM THE SQUARE IN THE CORNER.
AND THIS WILL COME OUT AND FORM HERE.
AND THEN WHAT YOU'RE GONNA END UP WITH IS REALLY ONE LONG DIAGONAL THAT NEEDS TO BE SEWN TOGETHER.
THIS COMES LIKE THIS.
AND HERE, SEE HOW OUR LOVELY NAVY BLUE STAR IS RIGHT IN THE CENTER?
OH, I JUST THINK THAT IS JUST GORGEOUS.
I REALLY LIKE IT NOW IT'S COMING TOGETHER.
SO REALLY ALL WE HAVE LEFT TO DO IS OUR CONNECTION HERE AND THEN ONE LONG CONNECTION ALL THE WAY DOWN.
AND OF COURSE THERE MIGHT BE AN AREA IN THE CENTER WHERE WE'D HAVE TO PUT A HOOP.
BUT MY, IT REALLY LOOKS GREAT.
AND TO COMPLETE THIS QUILT, WE'RE GOING TO GO AHEAD, AND WE'LL WORK LATER ON ANOTHER SHOW TO SHOW YOU WHEN WE DO THE BIAS BINDING, I'VE PICKED UP ALL THE DIFFERENT RADIANT COLORS IN THIS QUILT AND HAVE SEWN THESE TOGETHER IN THE BIAS TUBE METHOD SO THAT THEN WHEN WE START CUTTING, WE ARE EVEN GOING TO HAVE ALL THE DIFFERENT COLORS FOR BINDING THAT WILL GO ALL THE WAY AROUND THE OUTSIDE.
I THINK THAT'LL BE THE PERFECT ACCENT ON THIS WHOLE QUILT.
AND UNFORTUNATELY, I HAVE TO GIVE THIS BACK TO THE FLAT ROCK CHURCH GROUP, AND I'D SURE LIKE TO KEEP IT MYSELF.
