During his work for Wounded Knee defense, Tilsen felt emotional and a spiritual connection with his clients. Seeing the great injustice, he felt a strong connection to what it would have been like as a settler. They are not lesser human beings and they were not during settlement. He compares this to the Israeli settlement of the lands of the Palestine people.
